Ignoring II

Why do I now have to be reminded that someone is on my ignore list and asked if I want to read what that person wrote?

I put that person on the Ignore list because not only do I not want to read what that person wrote, I don't want to remember said person's existence.

Could we go back to the full-bore Ignore function perhaps?

I've never felt the need to physically ignore someone - why can't you just pretend they're not there?

I've often thought that too, I mean this person you 'hate' might just post something useful and something you wouldn't want to miss.

No they don't.

I have only 3 people on my Ignore list (I had several others but they were eventually booted out) and each got a month or two to show his or her true colours and are either rude or obnoxious in every post, which causes me too much stress. So I ignore them so I will not be drawn into a battle of wits with unarmed opponents.

Trust me, none of these three people have ever said anything I couldn't easily have skipped reading.

I have a question about the ignore function. I have never used it before, but one or two users are close to getting on my ignore list now. The FAQ says: "Ignore lists are used for those people who's messages you wish not to read. By adding someone to your ignore list, those messages posted by these individuals will be hidden when you read a thread." My question is then: If someone on your ignore list starts a thread, will you then not see the entire thread, or will you just see the replies. And how will this in that case appear on the forum page. My guess is that if someone on your ignore list has started a thread, you will not see the thread at all. Otherwise, it will be confusing to see the replies without seeing the question, if you know what I mean, so I would think that's how it is, but I would like to know before I possibly start using the ignore function.

Good question R !

Altough I never used that feature and not planning to use, and hoping nobody would ever want me in their ignore list.

I have to admit that I've always wanted to put someone on it to see what it's like, but I've resiste dit so far.

Would be funny if you got sent an e-mail notification saying:

hello a
b has just put you on their 'Ignore' list.
Thankyou
10-Tenths.

hehe, that would be funny!

I have to confess to being curious about whether I am on an "ignore list", but the squabbles that could break out if people saw themselves being discarded mitigate against such an idea, I think.

I think I'll try the ignore list soon. There's one poster who has just about done it for me for good, and as Liz beautifully put it, the individual has never posted anything I couldn't easily have skipped reading.

Oh, and don't worry Bononi, you would NEVER be on my ignore list.

Is it possible to ignore a race official or a clerk of the course though, I wonder. It shouldn't be, at least not in the forum(s) they host.

Exactly the point I raised, and which has, so far, been "ignored"

I could never use the ignore list, because even though there are a few people on this forum that I can't stand and would rather not be subjected to their offal, I would always be woundering what they MAY have written in response to my posts. And that, I think, would be worse then actually reading whatever **** their shooting out of their mouthes. It's probably something I should get over, but I've always been weak at controlling my willpower.
