John Briggs has also sold his Alfa dealership and said to be thinking about a complete change of direction The technical clout of 888 will give the Rat the car he deserves and he will then be able to take it to Ambrose and Skaife people forget that the Rat won the only 2 World touring car Championship in a FORD

Was I saying Paul Radisich would go? MN has the story today...
I doubt Rickard Rydell is here for a holiday |

And I must say the Briggs Alfa outlet is very nice, how many multiple storey car yards are there going around?

I am always reminded of the first year of that team with the Alfa in the BTCC.... not even Tarquini could do anything with it

The Alfa was certainly very poor that year (1995), but it was a Prodrive car

As opposed to a works Alfa effort... it certainly went backwards.... and the Vectra programme sucked under the old ST rules, if you ignore the wing kit that didnt work (designed by Opel Germany)
The 888 boys still sold Cam McLean's Vectra team the new German kit knowing full well the bloody thing didnt work. |

So FPR have come up with a different option to buying briggs then or was the asking price just too high.

Depends how serious they are about operating 4 cars. I cant see the Ford commitment increasing from the contracted 3 cars, so commercial sponsors would need to pay for that additional vehicle
Given that FPR havemt exactly been servicing Caterpillar the way you would think they should, and face the very real possibility of losing that money, acquiring and maintaining money from outside the Ford network is virtually impossible. Unless of course the noise just recently of a link with Toll is more than just noise.... |

Iam not sure what to make of the 888 press release and the cars with the more prominent Ford logos, in balance with the words of Mr Kruk this week....
It appears that Ford is still having discussions with 888 about the future, and that there has been no conclusion (read;contract) reached between them. This suggests the Ford logos are an act of goodwill for the future more than a statement of partners in sync... Holden must think they have a shot if they are talking publicly about it,unless its another destabiliser.... |

Yes Read that today and it flies in the face of what my otherwise pretty good source told me early this morning. He told me when the sale went through etc, so he has been correct so far. But maybe he has this wrong we will have to wait and see.

given 888's loyalty to GM in the past, i think you'll find they will abandon the falcons for a commodore next year. wayne wakefield is said to be in contention for canto's seat as is a new fford champ
