Thanks NAC! Great to meet you. My car almost takes off over that brow, which is why the front looks so high! Lot of weight in that old cast iron Volvo six.
Nice pics. Ondrack's winning TVR and Tony Roberts (680bhp Corvette) just lapped me at the finish line for race one. I was just behind Alastair Caldwell's Lola... I lapped the red Sunbeam Alpine, so a huge speed differential. Managed the full six laps in race two as I believe Ondrack fell off(?) and track co-owner Roberts won. Also caught up with the Spectator and his wife. Kenny Smith (Kiwi) won both F5000 races I believe... Anyway, it is not about winning - its about the cars! I took over 200 pics yesterday and about 100 today and some are excellent. Sunday will be warm... No really good spectator photographic spots next weekend at Pukekohe so I am making the most of Hampton Downs! Nice to say Hi to Richard Dodkins, as he used to sprint a Ginetta at Curborough when I ran my 998cc Mini Cooper back in the 1970s! |

The guy surrounded by the girls is track co-owner Tony Roberts. Great pics NAC.
Must load up some of mine. Pencil it in your diary folks, same time next year - Chris Amon tribute festival. Get away from the snow and you can have HD, Pukekohe, then the weekend after Taupo, before heading to the South Island for their Festival of Speed for consecutive weekends. |

you should have seen some of the other shots of Tony, I'm sure the girls were pinching his bum from the expressions he was making.
I should say that I have around 4,500 pics from the weekend, infield, outfield every corner, pit lane, atmosphere etc. Any requests just holler. Hi res options available to buy - send me PM |

Thank's guys for putting on a wonerful days racing, big fields with awesome & interesting cars, great to see a big Aussie contingent racing....how awesome was that 8.8l March Can-Am. Can someone give me some information on that wild Trans-am looking Mustang & the Marlborough VK Commodore Sports Sedan. Also did the Moffat Cologne Capri hit the circuit during the weekend? Keith

Thanks Macjac, that was the one, it seemed as fast as it was loud, I love the oversized rear wing. Do you know the year models of the three F1 cars & the Indy car?

The Moffat Capri did a few demo laps on Friday, and broke a cambelt, not uncommon for this particular car! It was not there to be raced as I understand, just demo'd a bit. Meanwhile Roger Townshend put on a great show in the earlier RS2600 Capri, three wheeling it around turn two and three, a spectacular car in sight and sound, and very well driven too! |

yes they were, the Escort is running a very high hp NA YB Cosworth engine, very similar hp to the Capri I am sure, not sure what the Alfa had in it, but it was fast too!
