Tricky one that Mike.

The wind direction will be critical to getting the maximum straight line speed assistance it can offer for the lap time. Possibly also avoiding excess resistance of course.

Smart wing and diffuser setting could be vital.

I wonder if it would be possible (in the dry) to remove the front and rear screens on some pretext and turn the roof into an aerodynamic aid?

Lets hope the weather report is wrong. Alan from HSCC has put in a lot of effort to get this race to happen.

Exactly. We’re used to meteorologists erring on the side of caution (ever since the great storm ), so fingers crossed for this weekend, and think positive....

BBC Weather forecast is for winds of up to 40mph from the south west or west direction - almost directly behind you on the start/finish straight. Looks like the faster cars may need to start braking somewhere by the main tower with that sort of tail wind - unless someone discovers ABS was fitted in period

The crosswinds at Paddock hill could also make things interesting!

True.

Late brake into Surtees though - for those that brake there. And maybe at the short entry to Clearways?

All forecasts are for sunshine and decent temps today so I was going to venture down to watch a bit of the testing. 1.30pm and it's monsoon rain 10 miles away here so i'm staying indoors, coffee is on

Be prepared to throw a lifebelt! And according to the Beeb it’s actually going to get colder during the morning.

I’m in, parked up behind garage, and the rain started as I crossed the Thames. What a bummer.

Positives? I got through Dartford toll with 2 minutes to spare. Delta’s team had a good win yesterday afternoon and the Canaries won later on as well......

A wide spread of lap times in qualifying. Was it very briefly dry at some point or is pole occupied by a very rare Mk2 Turbo'd Escort?

Problems for Mike?

Yes, the conditions!

I wasn’t prepared to risk the car. Simple as that.... first 3 laps we’re behind SC anyway.

Couldn’t believe it- track was almost dry for the second race! Several people including me swapped to slicks, in my case 5yr old half worn ones. Took half the race for them to start working and took me the whole race to remember how to drive on them! Bit different to Dunlop Ls......

Well done HSCC, especially Alan Jones, for all the effort they put in to organise the day. And thank you to the marshals and hardy spectators for putting up with the weather!

We managed to have the 3 ‘tenthers’ cars together in the garages, which was nice. May even get a ‘team’ photo of the drivers posted, if it doesn’t frighten the children too much.....

Just been looking at the results - I rather gathered that discretion was the better part in quali, and that although both races were described as "bright/damp" there must have been a huge difference in the track, given the vast improvement in lap times for the second race.

Glad the Tenthers trio had a fun safe day!

Thanks Cliff- looks like the two younger tenthers are supporting the old guy in the middle!

Richard, the conditions were so bad for Q that the first 3 laps were behind the SC. There was a speed related noise from underneath my car that couldn’t identify, so just did one more lap and drove back into garage! Turned out that the gearbox breather pipe was out of position and the prop yoke was hitting it.... Hardly too serious, thankfully.

BTW was good to have a chat at last with justracing!

Just watched your tussle, looked great fun, will post link to you tube when Daniel uploads it.

Great day, even though it started somewhat damp - thanks HSCC & especially Alan who put in so much effort to organise. Hopefully a series will ensue...

Well done all who participated in what must have been dreadful conditions - at least for practice and race 1. I watched/listened from home to live timing and Marcus Pye's great commentary and it really made me wish I had been a part of it. I reminisced about the first time I ever raced at Brands back in 1977 and leaving the pit lane in practice to approach the daunting (then) Paddock bend on slicks ........ in the wet - we didn't have any wets at that time. Happy days.

P.S. What happened to Iain in race 1?
