Peerless/warwick
Yes in a way it is a Peerless but then again it isn't. It is the link between the Peerless and the Gordon Keeble. Peerless was called Warwick before it went into production, but after Peerless went bust there was a management buy out and the car was re-invented as Warwick with only a few body modifications. If anyone is really interested go to the Peerless and Warwick website and the history is there!
However we are interested in the work that Tunex did on the Warwick and the Buick 215ci engine. Thanks guys. |

Hey Celia, am I getting a feedback that replacing that old TR3 unit with a nice Rover Buick may be on the cards? If so sounds good.

OK a potted history:
Peerless GT - built at Slough - 1957-60 - glass fibre 2+2 GT bodied car using TR3 engine/gearbox and front suspension with de Dion rear suspension - not enough sold so ceased production, but resurrected almost immediately as:- Warwick GT - built at Colnbrook - 1960-62 - basically the same as above but with modifications to improve it. Not sufficient to improve sales however. Apart from the usual TR3 versions, a few were fitted with the Buick 3.5 engine (the manufacturing rights of which, as most will know, were acquired by Rover who developed it for many years and fitted it to various models in their range). It is one of these latter that Celia has I believe, so it's original, Al, not a transplant. I cannot find any reference to the Tunex link yet. The Gordon Keeble connection is Bernie Rodgers who designed the above and then moved on to be part of the GK project. It is thought that the GK idea was born out of the Warwick-Buick, albeit they were rather different cars. |

Transplant or original it still sounds good! I remember the Gordon Keeble a giuy who lived near me had one in my yof. Also as I told Celia when Peerless when tits up I was working for a company Mullard Vehicles (which became MFI but sadly just departed) who bought the remaining stock (or some of it?) and I actually finished off assembling one for the boss who ran it around for a bit.
