Dunlop give DTM go-ahead for oval race

Dunlop have given the DTM the go-ahead to use the banked oval at Lausitz, should the organisers give the event their approval. Opel's Manuel Reuter tested the Astra at Lausitz earlier in the year and wasn't concerned over safety.

Alfa Fan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Should be good. Touring cars on a full-oval!

I believe they will only be using turn 1 of the oval and the infield course, similar to Rockingham, not the full oval.

Suberb venue though, would still be good. But is it likely now with the financial difficulties. I will miss the CART race there.
BTW Redshoes I think it is turns 1 & 3, remember it's a tri-oval, and the infield configuration is different from the Rock.

I'd like to see the DTM on the oval at Eurospeedway and the BTCC on the oval at Rockingham.

Dunlop had been testing how the DTM-tyres would perform under high pressure on a banked track. The ITR is considering spicing up the Grand Prix-track of the Lausitzring by integrating turn one for next year. More technical details at www.dtm.de from Dunlop’s racing service manager Manfred Theisen.

i might be a minority here but touring cars on an oval sounds boring to me, round and round and round and round etc! Using only turns 1 and 3 of it would be good cos it would just be a taste and a novelty

I don't know what to think--perhaps having just one round on an oval or semi-modified oval would be interesting. But definitely, they should not do more than one round on an oval. It's kinda like Nascar, they have 28 ovals,2 road racing circuits during their season.
