Gasly. That thing had no right to be that far up at the end of the race.

Kudos to Max for a superb rant.

Other than that hard to pick out anyone that did much that was unexpected. The Mercedes had the advantage in the wet qualifying session and as soon as they got out of turn 1 1st and 2nd you knew there was no way Ferrari could win. So the "big six" finished where you'd expect (top 5 places and a retirement for one of the Red Bulls).

Ricci would have got my vote but his brilliant overtaking and fight back is what we expect, gasly on the other hand was unexpected, drove much better than anyone expected so he gets my vote

Lewis gets my vote, he drove a faultless race IMO, well done Fernando on your birthday (I had to mention that as my Spanish friends wouldn't buy me anymore drinks in the bar) !!

Notso Swift should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
It is actually a tough one,
Alonso is penalised because he is the best overall racer in a crap car, and constantly delivers beyond what any human has the right to do
Daniel is penalised because he has a good chassis, and we expect it to be up there (it should be) and we expect him to be the best braker in F1 and make unbelievable late dives with out error... despite the aero cost of following close... and he does it on a circuit where we have seen races without a single meaningful pass
Gasly is young and in a relatively poor machine and delivered beyond expectations, so he gets it today, which is sad for the other two, but I am sure they will not lose sleep over this poll

F1Guy User has been fined for unsportsmanlike behaviour!
Ricciardo without a shadow of a doubt. Specially for his pass on Magnussen which his former team-mate could not pull off at the same point without incident. In the fastest car on the grid!

Well done Ricciardo! That's how you execute the perfect planned pass.
