Delta, I'm afraid it is a horrible wet day here.
When I left the circuit just after 9, race start was delayed till 1030, modified timetable was being put together, amalgamating some races (& some needed that). I'm just about to go off to work, but can hear that the that some loud cars are out on circuit, so they're trying.
Still chucking it down with rain tho.

Racing eventually started at 11 to a shortened timetable. Rained quite a bit until about 2 when it stopped but by that time everyone's socks were wet and the cold was setting in. Fortunately the racing was good and I didn't see any drivers making silly moves in the poor weather. Just sifting through pics, I'll put some up later on tonight.

the racing was good? are you serious? worst meeting of the year so far for us! 10 cars racing on the GP circuit is just ridiculous! what a waste of 2 GP days!

I only went today and only the 70s protos had less than 10 cars (but even then there was a fight for what I think was 3rd-5th). The Gp Masters f1 never has more than 10 cars so that doesn't count

Horrible weather today but all the drivers were fantastic. Very professional 1st to last.

Monday, Post 9 - last marshal waving you in on the rear pit entry on finish, (Very appreciative of all the waves, makes you feel standing in the cold and rain is worth while)

Sunday, Post 19 – hope the chap in 24 Proto 70’s is ok

Saturday, Flagging yellows on post 2 for paddock hill guests!!!!!

The thing is compare what we had on track and what was in the programme! in some formulas only half of the entrants came out!
even merging both the gentlemen drivers races failed to produce a good grid, only 31 were out on track when more than 44 were entered. If a meeting can only produce indy circuit grid sizes it should be on the indy circuit, not wasting our precious GP circuit days.

The problem is MSV get more money from having masters on the GP than having something like WTCC.

If that's the only way you rate a meeting then you're often going to be disappointed..

I couldn't blame any of the drivers for not wanting to race valuable, historic machinery in such conditions. I was surprised we saw as many as we did, and well done to them.
I thought Sunday was one of the best days I've ever had marshalling, watching such great cars, especially on the G.P circuit.
Thank you MSV for a great weekend.

By the way, the WTCC are on the G.P circuit.

Paradoxically the events like BTCC probably work better on the Indy track as the general punter there on a freebie ticket wants to see lots of thrills and spills.
Personally speaking I am very pleased that both HSCC and Masters have the balls to hire the GP track otherwise most of us mere clubbies would never have a chance to race on it

likewise, but it can't make economic sense for any company or club to run 10 car grid races on a GRand Prix circuit.

late 60's and 70's HIstoric F1 cars are wonderful, but they're not really driven as they where for a few obvious reasons and I do wonder if its a viable or practical series to run

Yes, it is a struggle to make any commercial sense of such a small field but the weather (major factor!) and the proximity of other historic meetings and/or simply too much historic racing caused the small grid. However we need to look at ways of making it work as these are really the last generation of F1 cars that can be considered as runnable by a 'private entrant' - the alternative being for them becoming museum pieces - a fate nobody wants to see.

Absolutely John,I really do feel for the organizers, putting on what should have been a premier event,on a fantastic venue.Such a shame that the entrants did not show[for whatever reason] because I'm sure it used to rain when those cars were new.

If you look at the grids at Pau I think its fair too say that both organizers suffered from dilution. Why cant they all sit down and work out a sensible calender so this is less likely to happen... they would all benefit and HSCC are potentially going to have the same problem at the end of June when they clash with Dijon. Personally I will be at Brands for my first race of the season but I know of some who will be down in Dijon instead......

I seem to recall this conversation from Saturday John, damage is not compulsory.!

The Spa RMU suffered because of the amount of other events going on as well,it would seem as though different organizers need to look a little harder at thier respective calenders and perhaps talk to each other.
