And this illustrates very well the difficulty of identifying exactly what is going on without, at the least, a moving image to watch. Without an appreciation of the dynamics of what is happening I find it almost impossible to form an opinion. (And I've been observing cars fighting for corners and sometimes seeing them get dents to prove it, for nearly forty years now.)

jim, i think your spot on, you will see me turning in and bob to the right, but their is a frame missing at at a few feet past the apex i look to my right and see bobs anglia so close to my b pillar that i could have checked his oil for him.
I had no choice but to abort mission and take to the hills.
bob later apologized and that was that, but i have used this forum to show that we in the hrsr do care about driving stadards and take offence to being labeled hot rods, that is why i offerd my apologize to roger wills on behalf of the hrsr because righty or wrongly i thought he had a rough ride.
I think it would be great if we could all get along and push historic racing to the fore be that hrsr, fia, ctcc, etc, etc....

Best I can do I'm afraid! I must confess that of the small cars, I've always had a preference for the Imps. Now I'm in trouble, no doubt!

Thanks alot John much appreciated! Around redgate that mini was sliding just like a mini should be driven.

A bit of history about this particular Mini. Roger Phillips owned and raced this car in 1964 /65 in the south including Goodwood. He then left the sport and moved to the West Indies. He saw the car advertised a couple of years ago and purchased it, reverted it to race spec from the rallycar it had become, and came to play with us. A genuine period race car but updated sensibly.

Too right! However, I hope no-one minded me putting those images up. I just happened to be in the right place (for a change!).

Roger's obviously a man who likes to do things in style. His tow/support vehicle was a Rolls Royce!

really?? Hertz are obviously going upmarket these days!
back in teh early 70's Malcom Klube used a Silver Cloud as his race tender covered in stickers - sadly it has been "restored" by its current owner

I havn't posted for some time, am not a driver just a frustrated spectator who loves the atmosphere of an historic event.
We attended Donington and enjoyed the day. Driving standards were to me at any rate largley acceptable. (love to see a replay of the meyrick Hadfield incident)
My only complaint was the unbalanced nature of the programme. DBT should have been towards the end of the day, in my mind it was the top of the bill.
Guards Trophy - far too many classes as already been said
As for Steve Reeds comments I fear he has come to the forum a little late. As I see it the term "hot Rods" are referring to non FIA cars and not the type of racing seen at ovals, nor the driving standards within this form of motorsport.

I have moved Steve Read's post and Simon's response to the thread where the eligibility of cars is being discussed. Can I please, please, ask you to keep the discussion here restricted to the Donington meeting, rather than any spin off issues.
