I assume you dont particularly care for DPs but I figure you would be able to answer this question.

Did anyone notice the new crawford had its air intake on the side vice in the back window like all the others?

Would this provide less drag? I thought about it when they were talking about the porsche whos window fell out and said that it really disturbed airflow, well with the big hole in the back window as an intake, wouldnt this be about the same?

The crawford takes air through a duct aft of the passenger door.

Seems much cleaner (but I guess thats what you get from an F1 Aero designer)

I assume the most effecient way to get air in would be through a scoop on the roof (ala Porsche GT1, Merc GTR, and McClaren F1)

3.4 Roof air inlets, or snorkel scoops are not permitted. A maximum of two 11 sq. inch vents may be installed in the roof for exhausting air from the cockpit.

But that kills that idea.

I was lucky enough to have my neighbor tending video taping of Speed's 24 hour coverage while I was away taking mudbath. Just watched some of the coverage, one thing that caught my attention was a above rear shot of a Crawford going into braking zone and into turn one. The rear window deformed at speed and then popped back into place when the speed decreased. That means they are getting are pretty good flow up over the screen and roof and then it is flowing down to rear deck and to slot between rear desk and the wing. I would think it best not to do anything to interrupt that flow.

The Riley surprises because it has a pretty healthy flip at the rear deck, like an air damn, but it looks like it allows flow up to fill in behind wing. The Multimatic has that whacking great air damn at the back which seem too abrupt and seems like it would destroy the slot effect.
