tracking
if you take a road car to a regular garage and ask for the tracking to be checked, will they check the castor, camber, bump steer or toe-in or all of those ?
Thanks. |

Woodyracing- Here in the states the shops have two levels of alignment checking(tracking).
The less expensive of the two only checks the front of the car for castor, chamber, and toe. For an additional charge they will also check thrust angle on FWD cars which ensures the rear wheels track parallel to the front wheels. Bump steer concerns racers wishing to optimize the handling of their racecar, but they don't usually check it on their street cars. |

Normal tyre garage will only check tracking (toe in/toe out)
Main dealer or specialist will check the rest. ATS now have laser tracking equipment that checks rear to front alignment as wll as track, most impressive ! |

Well said, THR. Just need to be sure car is level and at normal ride height. You can shim the tires to level it if it's not too far off level.
