Lyncar Group C 2 Car

Does anyone have any information/photo's of a C2 group C car called a LYNCAR MS83/85 . It was originally run in 83 at 6 or so races in UK ,Canada , Italy and was then rebodied to become the 85 and apparently tested but didn'nt race as far as I know. I am particularly interested in the later version but any info/ photo's would be most appreciated. Woodsy

The car was produced by Martin Slater of Lyncar to the order of English-based, Greek clubman racer Costas Los.
It was unveiled, together with its class sister Ceekar, at the end of '83 season Brands Hatch meeting.
The car, powered by a 2000 cc, in line four, Hart engine, was debuted in a British club race, then went on to compete in the World Endurance Championship.
I remember it at Monza, driven by Los and Les Blackburn.
By mid season they changed the engine with a Cosworth V8, that was coming up strongly as the engine to have to win in C2.
After the engine switch, at Mosport, driven by Los and Canadian F.1 hopeful Allen Berg, the car was leading the class only to run out of fuel when the race was close to the end...
For the 1985 season they reworked completely the bodywork, the car was displayed at Silverstone during the 1000 Kms. weekend in may (Autosport published two b/w pictures on may 16, 1985 issue, page 7).
After some testing Los decided to abandon the project, buying instead the Porsche engined Kreepy Krauly IMSA March 84G, converted to Gp.C specs.....
Both Lyncar where just "different" C2 cars, with small diameters wheels and frontal area.
I remember I took some pictures of the 84 Lyncar at Monza: hopefully I'll find them and someone with a scanner to post them on the forum!

Hello again, thanks for the tips and help . My interest in the car is that i've just bought the neglected remains and plan to rebuild as and when funds and time permit but in the mean time would like tp piece together some detailed history. Once again thanks for your help.

Lyncar does still exist as a company. Email me if you would like Martin Slater's phone number. I am sure he would be happy to talk to you about the C2 project

Just to bring this thread bang up to date, there's a wind tunnel model of the later iteration Group C Junior Lyncar here on eBay:

I have just found this very old thread. Costas Los was a friend of a friend and the revised Lyncar should have run in the 1985 Silverstone 1000 kms but it wasn't quite ready. I photographed the car on display on the infield near Copse Corner.
Please respect my copyright on the photos - Thanks
