Interesting and great practice strategy for Andrettis. They've been tops this event. Its Marco's or circumstances's to lose at this point.

Getting pole at the 500 is a feat in itself. However, he's had no wins in nine years and the last podium was 5 years a go. It has been argued, the only reason he still has the drive, is purely because of the Andretti name. So from that perspective this has come at a good time and even if he doesn't win, it should keep him in the 98 car for a while. He is only 33.

Wow I thought he was older than that, it just seems that he has been around forever. Winning from pole is not a common feat at Indy, but of course pagenaud just did it!

His first season was in 2005 and he had his first of two IndyCar wins at Sonoma, finishing 7th that season.

And he's part owner of that car, it's Andretti affiliated but it's claimed he has majority interest in it. How I have no idea, but more than a few writers have said the same thing so I'm willing to go with it

Only just now realized how the start time is much later than it usually has been. But thankfully still not too late in the night here in Europe. Hopefully it's a good one (and the NBC ad breaks are tolerable...)

The actual race starts at 6:30 pm UTC, which is early evening. So it's not that late.

Was talking with someone yesterday about the start time. Everything is odd this year and am not sure the reasoning but can only assume b/c TV said so?

Looks like it'll be a warm day in Speedway, Indiana, with only a 20% chance a rain.

Yeah, I would guess without the afternoon pressure of another race and not a holiday family dinner evening it could start later and not miss the West Coast.

On that, the WC can SUCK it with their screwing up TV coverage. WS games shouldn't start at 830 so you can be home, then they don't end until 1am because there's 12 hours of ads Same for the SB, thankfully it's staying earlier again after inching later and rumors of 9pm kick a few years back. F the West Coast and their pretend sports biases, you get all the advantages of later coverage and writers have the internet now, your teams are just terrible more often than not.

I swear, with all the potential feel good results possible today, if Dixon manages to fuel save his way to another unexiting win It'll be the most underwhelming race possible

I know we should just be grateful we're getting a race at all, but I really want Marco or some other underdog to win this.

9.30 here in Finland

Anyway back in the good old ALMS days when I watched the Long Beach races they were starting at like 3 or 4AM or something, that's more of endurance if one watches em live
