Always look foward to this Meeting. My first race meeting at Winton was in 1967.

Went to last year's event.

It rained a little. This made things very entertaining to say the least. The sight of the brave souls on the old upright sidecars sliding through the 2 right-handers at the end of the old start/finish straight was a sight to behold.

It appeared as though the riders were using the front wheel as some form of signalling device to wave to family and friends in the crowd at these 2 corners. It certainly didn't appear to have much involvement in the direction control activities.

Brilliant stuff.

The Winton round of the Austin 7 Historics at Winton has been run on the last weekend of May for nigh on 100 years (not quite, but anyway). Last year because of the Winton Round of the V8 Supercars, the Austin 7 Club had to move out a week to the first weekend in June. This year they have reverted back to their original date of the last weekend of May.

Anyone got any news about the days running?

No results, being an untimed friday I presume.

Also what cars are there this weekend. The website says they will have 2 ERA's (love to see those again after Philip Island) and the Robbins Special, is there anything else particularly noteworthy there?

Sorry no photos but we had a great day even though it was drizzling most of the day and FREEZING COLD!

Some highlights?
Jaan Fox from SA chucking his Mini Cooper around like a rally car
Jody Mason's sweet sounding RTE49 Charger
a '72 De Tomaso Pantera
The 1955 Indy pole sitter, a '52 Jim Robbins Special that didn't want to turn right all day
Rob Sherrard's Gulf liveried Ford GT40
Paul Zazryn's 1960 Jag
Alf Bargwanna's very tidy XU1
David Kent's beautiful pale blue '64 Lotus Elan

Best sound of the day?
The 5 litre mumbo from the back of Wayne Park's red 1970 Lola that gave the GT40 a run for its money.

Even the carpark was worth a look!

"zed" aka Paul Zazryn did a great job in the Jag, must be all the years in Superkarts coming out hehe. Another mate made his debut in the ex Clements HQ, he had fun and got quicker each outing, quite an initiation running in the wet.

Sunday
Drizzle mainly, made interesting racing for the drivers and viewing for the spectators.
