Michael H should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
1980s ETCC on Seven

How did Channel Seven cover the ETCC in the 1980s? Which years? How much coverage per round?

As far as i know, i was too young at the time, but going by recordings of ATCC races from the mid-80s by family members, they just used to give wrap ups of each ETCC and WTCC (in 1987) round at each ATCC round. I have Lakeside ATCC 1986 on tape, in which they reveiw the Brno round of the ETC (with Mike Raymond & Dick Johnson commentating), plus they previewed the Spa 24 Hours, actually really good preview, interviewing Moffat and showing the Holden Dealer Team doing a 24 Hour test at Calder to prepare for Spa. That is the only 1986 race i have though, but they probably did more.

As for 1987 & 1988, they didn't go into as much detail from the tapes i have, just did a wrap up of each round of the championship when they did a world wrap up.

As for the 1986 ETC, Channel 7 released a review video in conjunction with Hay Fisher productions for the whole saeson, commentary done by Mike Raymond, Neil Crompton and Neville Hay, as far as i know was only released in Australia and not produced any more, lucky that the relo's are interested in it as well and bought it then.

Thats all i know, maybe people who weren't 3 or 5 at the time and saw them on TV can provide more info, i'm interested as well.

I know that in 1988, some ETCC rounds were reviewed during the coverage, rather just crammed into the World Wrap, I know for certain that the Donington round was covered like this during the Adelaide ATCC coverage. The ones that didn't coincide with ATCC rounds were probably shown on Sportsworld.

Reading through the 1986 James Hardie 1000 book, it says the ETCC reports were paid for by - big surprise, this one - General Motors-Holden.

BTW, racer69, which 1987 & 1988 ATCC rounds do you have on tape?
