Homologation numbers for 2010 GT1

Are these out yet? Will they be at the 100/25 level, or is the GT3 "balancing formula" going to allow for lower quantity cars, since they wouldn't be allowed to run away with it as easily...

I've heard from several places the FIA may move away from having any homologation for the new GT1 class. They want to entice manufacturers to join without them having to create a road going version as well.

I hope they're wrong though.

They want to scrap homologation so they can fill grids with performance balanced cars and remove manufacturer's from the process.

Very reminiscent of Grand Am and NASCAR.

I think they're looking to make it similar to Super GT. You don't have to make a homologation version, you just have to use an engine from somewhere within your company.

Perhaps having a GT1 like this and a P1 class like we have is the "have your cake and eating it too" situation. It wasn't long ago when the ACO was talking of moving in a much more "road car" look with the P1 class. The manufacturers would have something that looked like their offerings, but would need to have to have road versions (and they could compete for overall wins).

With GT1, they now get a similar effect, since many of the manufacturers did not want to go toward the more "supercar" look. I am correct in assuming that the 2010 P1 cars will not look all too different from what they do now, correct? Or is the ACO still looking to move away from the "F1 style" look?

Oh also... in certain contexts, it may seem a bit like NASCAR and Grand Am, but hey, at least these will be cars you would actually want to look at, without needing to drink heavily!
