The car was built originally as a Hillclimb car, and I believe that is how it should stay ! I also prefer Hills.

To bring it up-to-date, there is a new VdeV UK endurance racer run by Lanan Racing. I saw it at Brands recently. It is MP98-01-08 (Honda 2.0 engine)

I now finally have a BMW S62 engine - this is the 5 litre V8 engine from an M5.
I have found people in the USA who will supply a Dry Sump Kit, Management, Vanos Elimination Kit etc etc. They reckon we should be on for about 480 - 500 bhp, and rev to 8500.
Now I have a few months with a hacksaw and hammer to glue all this lot together, and I can't wait for next season !

MP40 02 Speed Martyn Griffiths (Hart engine) Sold to Jim Thomson then to Martin Middleton. Middleton sold it as a roller to John Belsey who installed a Ford YB. Belsey sold it to Graham Henson who in turn sold it to Andy Bennett & Simon Osbourne. Bennett & Osbourne started to install a Rover V8 before selling the project to Damon Milnes who is still working on the installation.

Only just caught up with your amazing records. One minor correction....I own MP40/1, which went Middleton-Belsey-Henson-me in the last few years

Simon Osbourne still has MP40/2. The confusion arises because we've both installed Rover engines - the only difference being that his works and mine doesn't!

Just to update. MP40/1 Has been written off completely. and has been since september 2007 when Andy had the off at Knockalla, and as you may have seen in Motorsport News is only just getting back into 'form'.

I bought the Pilbeam MP58H 06 from Jim Robinson a few years back to compete in the Irish Hillclimb championship.

Had a bit of an off in Knockalla at the same corner that destroyed Andy Kittles MP40. rolled it!
Consequently does anyone know of any spare MP58 bits and pieces going for sale?
Could do with some spares!!

MP57/01 was broken up when in Roy Lane's short ownership. The front half was sold to Stewart Robb Snr who mated it with the rear half of MP57/02 after a serious off damaged the front half of that beyond repair.

I believe he may still have it. I sold him MP57/02 in 1999.

The works Pilbeam MP62-01 was flown to Sydney Australia for AD-O and Peter Finlay to drive in the Australian Hillclimb Championships on the Esses course at Easter 1996. Finlay, NSW state title holder in 1993,4 & 5 in his supercharged Mawer Formula Ford chassis, arranged for Mike Plibeam and Alister Douglas-Osborne to travel to Sydney and stay with Peter and his wife, Gaye. Mike sent the car out, never having met Peter. Peter assembled the car which had been knocked down by the shippers. The Bathurst Light Car Club footed the bill for AD-O's airfares. Peter took a close second outright; 0.007 seconds being the margin. AD-O was a regular driver of the car in the UK, often accompanied by another driver, the most notable being John McClelland at Prescott. During June 1997, Peter and Gaye, along with the now late Ivan Tighe, triple Australian Hillclimb Title holder travelled to the UK to contest three championship events. Peter tested the new MP82-01 with FT 200 transaxle (fitted with sequential shift mechanism) at Curborough as did Ivan in the ex-Priaulx MP47 which he had hired. With AD-O and Willem Toet driving the works car at the 50th Anniversary of the RACUKHCC at Shelsley Walsh, Peter hired Ben Boult's MP 53 (I think) Cosworth for the event. He then transferred to co-driving the MP82 at Loton Park and Prescott later in the month.

The car Ivan Tigh hired in the UK was a Pilbeam MP57 chassis 02. It was as you say ex Priaulx but in the ownership of Malcolm Orme when Ivan hired it. I then purchased it in the Autumn of 1997 and subsequently sold it to Stewart Robb Sr in 1999. See above somewhere.
