Until I saw the indicated price, I was considering putting a bid in for the Lairy Canary, but it way out of my reach. Nevertheless, that is still a car I would love to have in my stable, along with (as with others here) a genuine GT40, a 917 plus a Lola T70.

I would agree about the Lola.
Used to have a slot car model of that. I always liked the Thomas Cheetah as well https://www.pinterest.com/pin/140244975882168106/ I must find my photos of the one that came out at Donington a few years ago. Lovely thing. I Forget who built it. Somewhat damaged about 30 minutes into its debut race and I don't recall hearing of it again. |

Mike Crow's list is very impressive and i see that we have several cars in common with MGDavid.
Yes John, F40 apart not many Ferraris. If I had to name one, would be either a 333SP or a Daytona Grp4. |

Can I just add that the 935 on my list has to be the 935-77 variant and preferably in Martini colours? If we're only allowed 10 then they must be the right 10.

Merry Christmas, Chris, you'll reach the NY before us! Be safe, be well. Gérard.
Max, as to livery I'll go for the Hawaian Tropic one but only if delivered with the grid girls (now forbidden but very period correct). I trade the Cobra Daytona with a 63' Lister Jaguar coupé. |

I have assumed that our ten have to be cars that we think we could conceivably drive without needing to be a driving god (I mean that i can drive without killing myself, if not necessarily very quickly) if that’s the case, my ten are: My Caterham Mallock Mk20 Formula Atlantic Group A Alfa GTV6 Group 4 Fiat 131 Peugeot 306 Maxi Porsche 924 GTR Lotus XI Audi A4 Super Tourer Honda Accord ST Group B Audi Quattro A1 (the standard wheel base one!) (Note all front engine rwd, front engined fwd or 4wd - I can’t cope with mid or rear engined cars!) If my list is of cars for their iconic engineering, innovation, performance or aesthetic status, and I don’t have to drive them then my ten (ok, 12) is: Tyrrell P34/6 Tyrrell 019 Ferrari 312 T4 Ferrari 640 Jaguar XJR 14 Jaguar XJ13 Jaguar D Type Lancia Stratos Group B Audi Quattro S1 MG 6R4 Porsche 962 Group 5 Zakspeed Capri |

RB, I'm with you for the 33 Stradale, any 6 or 8 C depending on the body but would it be a TZ I'd go for the first version. We have several 33 TT 12 now.

Sorry, I need a much bigger garage! Gosh but it seems a long time to the start of the new season. Easter Monday Castle Combe for me. Can’t wait |

Andy,
Hadn't realised you were a Tyrrell P34 fan. The P34 launch was shortly before I left Tyrrell to work for ELF. Right up to a relatively short time before the event, despite all of the development of some rather unique parts, not least the front wheels, I had no idea that it existed. That despite the very small factory and the very small number of people and my access to all areas. Some months before I had been asked whether I knew of anywhere one could get 10" wide mini wheels - which I thought a bit strange. I was told it was for something that I can't remember. Wind tunnel testing as it turned out. There was also a wooden frame in the general shape of a typical F1 car of the time that was a Wind tunnel test creation. It had 2 holes in the front section through which a metal tube axle could be fitted. The holes were some distance apart - like a very long or very short wheelbase configuration. Once again the explanation was for "wind tunnel testing of long and short wheelbase aerodynamics." Given that the existing cars were regularly re-configured with wheelbase changes to suit different circuits the explanation seemed completely reasonable at the time. Fun days. |

My 10 would be:
Ferrari 250 GTO Ferrari P4 Ferrari 1512 F1 (such a pure shape) Lola GT (Mk 6) Alfa Romeo GTA Lotus Elan plus 2 130/5 Mini Cooper 'S' 1071 Zakspeed Capri (but must be in black/red/yellow Mampe colours) 1964 Ford Mustang notch back Ford GT40 (in Ken Miles light blue LeMans colours) All very predictable, I'm afraid, nothing unusual or avante garde. One could conceivably use all but the F1 Ferrari for a Sunday run to the pub. |

ISTR reading that Derek Gardner(& others presumably) did some of the work in Derek’s garage at home. There’s s new book on the Tyrrell team coming out in July 2023, by a Richard Jenkins, which is supposed to include previously little known stories, eg the fact that the 008 was conceived from the start to be a “fan car” but they couldnt get the fan to work reliably. I also understand that the original Tyrrell shed may be be relocated to Goodwood. I am on the Tyrrell Racing Organisation FB site where several previous employees often pop up with a story or two.
