Greetings,
Driftwood might be able to help you..I found this in the parts for sale section of race-cars.com, not sure if it will help. http://www.race-cars.com/partbd/messages/19688.htm There are a few other vendors on that list who you may want to contact, although no other listings showed uprights. There's also an 80A listed for sale with a note about some spares along with it. Perhaps worth a call: http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/ma...22895416ss.htm Good hunting! Hi Guys. I am sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. Various things in life kept me busy, and also that thing of remembering to check back. My fault on that part.
I was reminded of this topic today. First off I have some bad news. Joe Stimola has passed away yesterday. Feb13th from complications from open heart surgery. I never got to know him real well, but did have a few conversations with him over the last 4 or so years. Unfortunately I never got to say hi to him for Andrew Bernstein. Sure was a nice guy. Andrew I'll keep you in mind the next time I see Paul. Its been a while since I've seen him. Anyway onto that stamp on the chassis plate you asked about Chris. That was 851. |

Dear Joe,
Thank you for the guidance and support you gave to so many of us in the U.S. racing community. The list of racers you mentored is a representation of the All-Star commitment you gave to the sport we love, and we love you for it.. We will miss you, for now. See you in the Paddock. Andy Bernstein |

Greetings,
I just found this forum. I own the x-Price Cobb March 1980 A, chassis 21. This is the chassis with which Cobb won the race at Trois Rivieres. It is currently being repainted to 1980 configuration (yellow) and will be running in historic events on the US west coast this season. Hope to see you at the track. Cheers, Luc |

pics of some of the cars mentioned in this thread...
This is what I've uploaded so far from my Atlantic archives......
http://www.flickr.com/photos/4668198...7623186773769/ Stay tuned as I try to add snaps on a regular basis. It's been good fun as it has helped me re-establish contact with a lot of my old friends from my Atlantic days. |

Race history or info on March 80a serial #7
Hi,
I'm new to this forum and was hoping to get any pertinent info about my March 80a #7. Have owned it since 2007, but have only raced it twice with HSR-WEST. I have little history, so hopefully someone else does. Thanks, March 80a Hopefully I've posted in the correct section. |

March 80a #7
Thanks for the reply. My name is Brent Smith and I am located in Ca. I purchased the car from Chuck McConnell in 2007 and he had obtained the car in a race car trade from Steve Young all parties located in Ca. I traded by Formula Holden to Chuck out of shear frustration, as it needed someone really good to sort it out.
I have been a Lotus dealer for many years and have owned and raced several ex autobytel EXIGE MOTORSPORT cars here in the Ca. with HSR-WEST. I have also raced Porsches for many years. The #7 car appears to be very original. Any help is much appreciated. Regards, Brent Smith |

Welcome Brent.
Chassis 7 isn't one we've traced yet but you should have clues on the car. Is there a SCCA number stamped on the roll hoop? If so, could you tell me what it is (allen@oldracingcars.com if you don't want to post it here). Also, do you have any other paperwork with it that might gives names or dates? I'm assuming you don't have the SCCA log book. Finally, as the car looks original, any clues on the bodywork? Have you tried rubbing it down to find the gel coat? |

March 80a #7
I do have a VARA log book beginning back in 1997. The owner was Michael Sillman and the first event was the Los Angeles Vintage Grand Prix, Group 3, Class FA1, cAR #34. Subsequent stamps for Willow Springs 97, Pomona Grand Prix 97, Willow Springs 97, Laguna Seca 2004.
The car was raced once in 2006 and twice by me in 2007, HSR-WEST HISTORICS @ California Speedway. It does have some SCCA stickers on the roll hoop and the original color appears to be red. Record of ownership is: Mike Stevenson 12-5-96 Michael Sillman 6-21-97 Steve Young Chuck McConnell 2006 Brent Smith 20007-present The last motor rebuild appears to be when Steve Young owned it and built and dynoed by Hasselgren with peak hp of 214 @ 9000 rpm. Chris - Thanks for all the info on the 80As. I am doing some research on the #7 car (which my boss now owns) and was wondering if you could help me out or point me in the right direction as to where I could dig up some more info. I've been all over the web and the history as far as this chassis goes, is extremely slim.
What I do know: 1. Raced by Terry Gemmill three times in 1981 (The Lethbridge Brewery Can-Am, Westwood Motorsport Park Player's Pacific, Grand-Prix Labatt du Canada ) 2. is most likely a DSR Car seeing that numbers 1-9 were owned by Shierson as well and they would have been the first cars deliver for that season. That's all I've got so far but anything would help. Thanks -Justin Sorry guys, just realized this got posted in the wrong thread, what can I say, I'm a rookie. I have also discovered that after Terry Gemmill Raced it, its seems Eric Lang raced it in the 1981 CASC North America Formula Atlantic Championship followed by SCCA National Championship Runoffs Formula Atlantic in 1982. This however seems questionable since the car is rumored to have been handed down from Dale Lang to Eric as well as the suggestion that Lang bought this car new and raced it himself.
We know this car was once raced by Gemmill because of his name decal on the side but it is also reasonable to assume it could be Lang's car because of his connection with Shierson racing and the fact that DSR owned all the 80As ch #1-9. I might be getting reports on two separate cars. Can anyone spread some light on the situation? |

Nice chat with Matthew Dunne yesterday at the Gold Cup, re his lovely 80A. He couldn't remember whether his car is -16 or -18, though he recalled the Simon H connection. I mentioned Padraig Mooney had one in period, Matthew thought the latter's was an earlier March. So does he have the ex-Adams/Ulibarri/Mooney car, or the ex-US one?

Tom Stewart's car was black, red number 3.
Although they are unscanned and not uploaded to my flickr Atlantic set, I have the pics to prove it. The day he died was a tough one. He was a fine shoe, a good kid. I had just sold him some prints of him in it at Westwood. http://www.flickr.com/photos/4668198...7623186773769/ |

March 80A
Dear Chris,
Just reading this thread and I want you to know that I own Chassis #14 March 80A. I have had the car since about 2000. I do not know much about the cars history. I bought it out of Florida and it has solid rear rotots (usually means it was a club car, not a pro car). It is fully restored and I raced it at the Formula 1 support race at COTA. Kind regards, Tim Gaffney tgaffney@amciglobal.com |

These might help What's the gearbox number? Where did you buy the car? Who from? From the number on the side I'd say it last ran German or Swiss mountain events That narrows the field. Chris |
