I love all fire trucks but ARFFs are particularly cool. The water cannon aiming system works like a missile lock on a fighter jet. There are some cool vids on YT if you're interested.

I have never seen one of these in the flesh before yesterday. The Ineos Grenadier. I believe here you need to part with a fair was of cash for one. Especially if you tick things on the options list.

The list price is around £80k in the UK - I don't know what they are actually selling for new - but 2nd hand one year old ones are on sale for roughly half that which is a huge depreciation to my mind.

C'est normal, Mon Ami, they are made in France! Roughly, two live axles, old but good six in line Bimmer engines with a good auto gearbox by ZF, almost three tons, more than two meters high and way past the 100 k mark here because of an extra tax partly based on the weight and gov bad faith. But the Dif' look is there and it is said to be very TT capable (with options and tires).

This 48 Chevy split windscreen truck was pretty special. I thought so anyway.

They are and they are EVERYWHERE lately. I've given up counting seeing one a day to how many per day. It probably took me a few times to figure it out but the desert sand/khaki color hides the Grenadier stamping better than black or grey does. Have not seen the pickup option yet but the full body ones are the new car of Buckhead it seems. It appears I see the 1924 and the Wagon, I think mostly the Wagon now, no Quartermaster yet. And they hold value here it seems, 75-85k new and 70-75k used with 1k miles or so. And seeing more Bentley and Range Rover SUV, and a few Astons but they are still rare. No Ferrari Mazda yet Last edited by broadrun96; 25 Nov 2024 at 13:45. |

They don't hold value here. When you see a car/truck advertised as second hand with so low a mileage in it its often a way to hyde a big discount on a new one. Even the majors dot it via their dealers network.

Going in to a store just outside York yesterday I spotted a 2018 plate Alpine. A few minutes later I thought I'd nip outside to photo it and post on here but it had gone.
Cool looking car in metallic mid blue. I've not seen one in the flesh before. |

Edit: I went online to find out about self combusting Alpines. There was it seems one well publicised case... Chris Harris with Eddie Jordan doing a Top Gear segment on a Monte Carlo stage back in the car'd pre production (prototype) days. Perhaps just a teething problem. Something to do with a fuel leak. Anyway it burnt up. There is a video of the segment in this article. https://drivemag.com/news/top-gear-s...rfaces-online/ Last edited by E.B; 27 Nov 2024 at 10:07. |

Yes, the flaming car was the same colour as the car I saw. Perhaps all made in that colour? Like Ferraris in red and Lotus Cortinas in white/green.

I assumed they were all that colour.
I really like them. They look fun. |

Well I did one of the Labors of Hercules this afternoon and as anyone in the US will tell you bad day for it. Bakery staff wanted lunch so ventured into a grocery store the day before the most American of holidays, stuff yo face day.
But, and reason why this thread, was rewarded with an odd and at some angles better than the original old car. And yes, I felt the wheel choice had to be accented for good reason |

Nope. American racing or American racers I think. At that time we used the services of a French broker based in the US. Once, he advised us to buy crate engines from a prep named Fast Bob if my memory serves. Unfortunately it seems this guy had to "satisfy" the local gov and was sent in jail! We found nothing special in our engines tho. Another day the French sent a big carb saying "try this one it comes from an old boy working in the middle of nowhere". No markings on the casing of the said carb but the results were impressive because from 560 bhp at crank our 427 ci went to 610! Happy days.

American Racing Torque Thrust II. It's our most "famous" wheel, so the equivalent of the British Minilite, Japanese Watanabes, German BBS RS, etc. It's what the Bullitt Mustang had on it.

A correction as it's actually spelled "Torq Thrust". The original ones had straight spokes and were made from magnesium. It's pretty much died out now, but occasionally you will hear older fellas, like my Dad, call these "Mags" because of that, no matter if they are steel or aluminum. I'm sorry, I'm such a dork...

Sure they are enjoyed. When I had them on the 'Vette they looked cool. Now I dare to say they are………… BRAT!
