Using 2005 chassis - wise?

Given that the 2005 cars were developed and designed around the one tyre per race rule, is it wise for Torro Rosso (who are using the 2005 RB1) and Super Aguri (who will be using the 2005 BAR007 post Imola) to be using a 2005 chassis?

Surely the tyres wont get worked hard enough by the chassis?

What about getting heat into tyres for qualifying?

I'm sure that certain things can be adjusted.

If Super Aguri are using the 2005 BAR chassis then they really are digging themselves a deep hole.

The car was one of the worst handling cars of 2005, chewed its tyres and was generally underpowered. The only saving grace for SA is that they can change tyres this year but I doubt if they will have the facilities to make it a better handling car.

Torro Rosso are going to be the team to watch in 2006, the RB1 was a car that qualified further up the grid than most expected. It is using a detuned V10 which is going to embarass the V8's. The team has a larger budget than it has ever had and in the RB1 it has a known quantity with lots of aero data and setup info.

I thought that SA weren't going to run the '05 BAR chassis as they were worried that the '06 chassis would then become illegal under the concorde agreement due to carry over of parts......or have i just not kept up with news?!

Thats different though, as the FIA's claiming the RB1 was originally a Jaguar, which supposedly was built by a 3rd party to the F1 team. Thus perfectly legal it would seem for it to be used by STR

Yeh I can't particularly see a problem with it. But that's nowhere near the point. It's not my view that counts.

If the car goes alright, then there's no problem.

whats a chassis? the tub or the whole rolling car? depends on your definition really.

Toro Rosso deny that thier car is the same as the RB1 - Jag. (but just look at the machined component on the top of the front push rod on both the RB and TR - they came out of the same computer)

My understanding is that the current TR is an unraced arrows, and that the new TR is something different again.

Just think though last years minardi (thier first new chassis in 3 or more years) must be a real dog for no-one to want it!
