So Gareth Burnett won the real Post War Sports Car Race in the non supercharged Alta with Michael Birch coming a good fourth in the Talbot
Best lap time 3.22 which is not bad for an eighty year old car Star of the show was Sue Derbyshire in the amazing three wheel Morgan It decided to rain after first couple of laps and she was at her best being the fastest thing out there, brilliant The six hour practise was really uneventful for once with each driver in theElva 160 GT doing a few laps and then we packed up after an hour and managed to get to Pizza place at 8 .30! A 2 55 lap gave the car the 22 grid slot and all the cars in front of us had engines twice the size. Let’s see what time the Birch/Burnett/Hansen Gang are eating and drinking tonight We have a table booked at 8 and another one at 10 45 if we exceed our wildest dreams. One win down so far so good touch wood |

Delta and sounds of the 60’s
I’m staying in bed for an hour with weather. Forecast tells us rain for four hours from four! It’s going to be the 3.5/4 hour race at best if that forecast happens |

Yup, typical Spa weather about turn! Been forecast to be a dry 6hr all week, and suddenly.......
Congratulation to Gareth and Michael for their Pre War results. Never heard of the special that won! Sue D is an absolute star in her Morgan 3 wheeler. Had a good chat with her and hubby couple of days ago- lovely people. Also listening to SOTS, thanks to the Beeb sounds app. |

Was aiming for 2:42secs but weather and a thrown alternator belt gave us only 3:28! We qualified after the HTCC race so it was dry but everyone was off the pace. We're back markers so something to do tomorrow. Today is head gasket change. Speaking of heads I walked into the tailgate on my Jeep. Nice gash on the forehead.
Sat in pizza place and heard quote of the weekend from one of John's team. A calzone is just like a cornish pasty! Brilliant. See you all later I'll try and get the cameras out today. |

Spoke to Gareth he just said “engine”. We have stopped for first driver Change and fuel . Dropped to P82 . Not raining but still damp track . O I forgot there was a punch up in box next door . Very distasteful .

We are going to make our 8 pm booking at Pizza house!
Into ninth place in the first damp wet bit and then engine gave up rotating! Imagine money saved on petrol. |
