The key is the slash (oblique stroke, if you like) in the description on the Woolmer website.
It was originally a normal 1960 Frogeye Sprite, bought in Jamaica by Peter Jackson, it was the local dealer's demonstrator. He ran it at the Jamaican GP and also Bahamas Speed Week in 1960. He and the Sprite then returned to England and it was converted to Sebring specification by John Sprinzel Ltd at Lancaster Mews, with an alloy outer back end, glassfibre Williams & Pritchard Sebring bonnet and high-sidescreen works hardtop. In the second half of 1961 it was run with a lot of success at La Chatre, Clermont-Ferrand 6 hrs, Guards Trophy, Silverstone 6 hr relay, Nurburgring 500km and the Peco Trophy at Brands.
On 7th October in mid-Wales while on the Gold Leaf Rally it caught fire from a fuel tank leak, and (so the story goes) burnt for 3 hours before the local fire brigade could find their way into the stage and put it out.
In early '62 Peter had it rebuilt with a coupe body and a repaired alloy Monza Bonnet that came from Dan Margulies' Speedwell GT. At that time Peter was working for Douglas Wilson-Spratt at the recently-opened Healey Centre in Swiss Cottage and Peter claims that 46BXN was the inspiration for the WSM Sprites - however DW-S roundly denies this!
In the early '90s it had a body-off full restoration, was then owned by Mike Darcey before falling into Paul Woolmer's hands.

All the above from my signed copy of Spritely Years by John Sprinzel & Tom Coulthard (1994).
So very much a trigger's broom like so many Historic race cars.... but it is pretty, and it is used, for which we are grateful.

What a wonderful story, thank you so much David. You're a good writer but I suppose it took a while to extract those info from the book. A good reading complementing good pictures! What team Bob/Dave!

Sorry RBS, can you tell me what car Dotage is and which driver?

Look, Bob posts great pics, Mike comments one starting a nice discussion about MG's, Bob replies sending a series of pics of a nice car and David makes the point with a magical and well documented story! What thread is more enjoyable than this one with this friendship and -almost- int atmosphere? No one! Go on guys, luv it!

The last photo above reminds me of how I felt in the Porsche when we had the Caterham's sharing with us....terrifying where they came from - had to adjust the mirrors down to try to see the beggars
