and the purpose of the question is?

I doubt that BARC sit in the office stitching cloth all day, so they must buy them in, made with their logo. Have you checked inside a BARC suit to see who the manufacturer is?

I know SMT & RaceSafe are AWS sourced, plus BMMC now give the refunds on AWS kit - sure some of the other clubs can tell us where they get them from.

To my eyes, there isn't a significant difference, so maybe it's worth you telling us what your concern might be - price or whatever?

Are you talking style, build quality, being flame retardent or most orangey?
Surely they all do the same job?
If you want cheaper ones get a orange welders suit from ebay

Although tbf, the only ones I've tried are AWS + borrowed Goodwood whites.

right in the nicest possible way lets cut all the bull out, the guy wants a half decent comparison (im not the best guy but here goes!), this needs someone who has worn both, i have both still but i suppose for most people if you get used to a set its not worth bothering to change or signing up to a new club. i must partially echo the previous comments, i thought you were quite experienced, your avatar shows you wearing overalls, whether theyre your own? are you replacing those ones or just asking for someone?

yes bmmc marshals ovs are made by aws, the bmmc ones are much better imo as there's more pockets, and the barc ones dont look and feel as good through experience, with the bmmc ones you get more patches if youre that way inclined, and put it this way, you see loads more marshals with bmmc ovs on than barcs. there must be a reason for this, even if they cost a lot more...

buy the two piece bmmc set, i didnt but youll see why when you visit the gents! everyone buys the full set but then quickly realise why that wasnt the best idea, at least with the one piece you dont get a draft or you dont show a whale's tale when you bend over! at least bmmcs gives you that option though,

you can get cheaper alternatives, the previously mentioned welders ovs, can get them in orange, best ones dickies fr or maybe arco (cheap as hell are sometimes given away!) but no i wouldnt, you can get a set from a club (like silverstone or auto 66) if you marshal for them x amount of days and become a member or pay sometime towards it or theyre free. whatever but go for bmmc!

BMMC overalls are made by AWS and if you are a club member there is a substantial discount available through sponsorship. You order the overalls as normal through AWS quoting your BMMC membership number, forward your receipt to Sue Whitlock who will issue a cheque for the sponsorship amount. Details are on the BMMC website. If you are not a BMMC member then you simpley buy the overalls directly from AWS.

I don't know who makes overalls for the BARC but both their's and the BMMC overalls should do the same job so it comes down to preference.

Except that AWS don't appear to send a receipt. I wasn't able to get anything anyway, so ended up paying the full 75ish quid.

Did you ask for one or do you have a credit card receipt that you can forward to Sue?

We got receipts when we bought ours earlier in the year.

I don't think there is much difference, though from what I can tell, the BMMC ones have more patches, and I would assume (dangerous I know) that if both organisations are supplied by AWS then the standards would be similar if not the same in terms of fire retardency?

For us (and Lee, I know you're a Southern softy like Matt and me - all of us newbies mentioned in the Marshals Post! lol), BARC isn't really for us as the nearest circuit is Thurxton and therefore the discount from BMMC alone makes it a much more attractive option. I think it is BARC that does free overalls after so many days marshalling (?).

It is Silverstone who do free overalls after so many days marshalling.

BARC organise meetings throughout the UK and are not limited to Thruxton and their overalls are not supplied by AWS to my knowledge

Apologies - you're right, I have confused myself with free membership after so many days/stamps.

Thruxton is our nearest BARC circuit - I don't think (?) go to Combe - Devon really is race circuit inconvenient.

Honestly can't remember. I have vague recollections of maybe phoning them, but it was 6 months ago. I think I tried to resolve it but just gave up in frustration in the end.

I paid by paypal, and although that goes to my bank account, it will probably show only as "payment to paypal". The only other thing I have from them is an email "notification of payment received" I may have spoken to Sue about this and been told it was inadequate - I have vague recollections of this, but my apologies now if my recollection of that is wrong.

As has been mentioned before the aws ones that the BMMC do are very heavily subsidised, so much so that they come out as cheaper than getting welders ones from ebay, (personal experience here!)
The standard ones don't have many pockets, just 3, but the double zip goes both ways for those trips "off the bank" (it says "Gentlemen" on the door but I ignore that and go in anyway) If I were buying fresh ones today I would pay extra and get more pockets.

Just to throw another manufacturer into the fray, H T Hughes also have the 'Oulton Style' probans, not used them so unable to comment on 'how good' they are etc but seen quite a few pairs around the circuits.
