An interesting idea and JVO is supposedly a decent coach so an Am with him could be good but that's a tough class too. But could sell 2 programs with an enduro and sprint program for GTD. And if you believe S365, haven't read much else lately with work, there's a few new GTD programs showing potential and possibly a new car

Was thinking earlier, with the late season struggles of WTR with the Caddy could we see them being dropped or leaving the DPi ranks? Would make sense with the added Caddies with JDC-Miller to maintain the previously imposed max. And could see him trying to bid on another factory program and getting the distribution. Just thinking aloud but does seem like a program he'd be in to, after previous reporting, well hinting, about them being interested in a Lamborghini program.

It's unlikely that WTR would drop Caddy after only a single problematic season. If things went wrong next year I could see it happening, ESPECIALLY if there was a tempting deal with a new manufacturer in the equation. |

Sounds like an additional or a change in Lexus team for 2019, Racer reporting Vasser-Sullivan in the running for an IMSA program with Lexus. No confirmation regarding additional or replacement but seems like replacement is the leading rumor.

Good way to get more money, and track time, for those up and coming open wheelers. Especially with the potential for a sprint program in GTD.

If everyone's favorite report to hate has accurate information this time it seems like IMSA may be learning from past mistakes. There may be a reduced "marketing fee" for new GT3 manufacturers entering GTD, possibly leading to a McLaren Sprint campaign? Previous fee was reported to be a million, and definitely an insane cost for what return? His article also I think hints at the Lexus program with a 'new two-car team using GT3 machinery from an existing IMSA manufacturer.
Not listed in the article but think we could see CJ Wilson racing in more events with the Sprint series. And if someone can get Aston to pay up I'm sure Dalla Lana and others may try with the new GT3 for 2019, especially since it may not be ready/homologated for the start of the season. It could be an interesting time, and it could also be a huge dud, the giant promise and zero delivery we've come to almost expect in modern sportscars. |

It's also remarkable to notice how flexible Atherton's definition of 'commitment' seems to be. |

Looks like there is one taker for the Sprint GTD series, from S365: Moorespeed has ordered the new 911 GT3R for a GTD Sprint campaign. Have to say I'm not so sure about the Porsche placed drivers in the GTD cars, I'd have to lose Long, Bergmeister and others but it must be easier than a team hiring that driver themselves. But no idea how much the driver is of their budget.
From the article: "Moore said the cost-effective nature of the seven-race Sprint Cup, which is understood to be in the $1 to 1.5 million range, made it an easy decision to step up.** “One of the biggest factors in our move up was to find a more affordable step between the Porsche GT3 Cup championship and the big show,” he said." |

That's basically dialing it back to an ALMS GTC Porsche budget, which is very encouraging.

I still don't understand why IMSA split the GTD class with so many championships. |

Is there a December test of any type at Daytona or Sebring that we know about?

I think the series cut a test or two to save costs for the teams. But the Roar is still scheduled for Jan 4-6. And there is that Sebring encore event in November that includes some actual racing.

You can't, they haven't allowed spectators to watch testing since they rebuilt the grandstands a few years ago. You can pay $25 for the all access track tour and hope there's cars on track for the 10 minutes they let you in the stands.

Lots of old faces though, would have liked to have seen one new talent in there.
