No more Motorsport @ MIRA

Sad news, MIRA has said there will be no more motorsport on the site.

Apart from anything else, there were certainly one or two tarmac stage rallies held there each year.

There may well have been other events too, not sure about that. Sprinting perhaps?

I think I’ve seen that they’ve had sprints too.
Not competitive, but I did a track day at Mira many moons ago. And used the proving ground, but that was just normal useage.

The Midland Automobile Club (MAC) and the Bentley Drivers Club both had a sprint there every year.
A very fast lap, particularly when Harvey from the BDC takes you round as the Steward in his pre war Bentley, always one of the highlights of the season, along with lunchtime Melton Mowbray Pie Competition
It will be sadly missed.

I sit on the MSUK HC & S committee and there has been a steady loss of venues over the past ten or more years. it also looks as if Bo'ness has also gone.

They're not really interested.
Security has always been a problem - the sticker over the camera on your phone etc & Saturday is a working day until 1pm.
Covid was just the excuse they needed.

Word is that Lydden Hill are struggling in court in relation to their Planning Application from 2019 to have more days.
Unsurprisingly 'noise' is the issue.
Lovely track to race on, let's hope it survives.
