006_007 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
With all this talk about ugly F1-cars.....

Behind the primary story occupying everyones interest right now (JB VS BAR) is some interesting comments on what is classified a "good looking car" in F1.

My question to members of this board:

What in your opinion is your favorite looking F1 car?

Mine would have to be the 1978 JPS Lotus. Possibly because it was the championship winning car the year I saw my first F1 race, or that my childhood hero Mario Andretti was piloting it. But that fabulous Black and Gold car was a pleasure to look at and I still enjoy witnessing it at various historic races.

IMHO, almost anything prior to the advent of raised front wings, raised ground clearance, look-alike designs and grooved SUV like tires.

Gore should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Sauber C13 (1994), before the raised cockpit sides and that awful sponsorship deal that got daubed across the car mid-season (Tissot?).

Struck me as the epitome of a clean, elegant single seater shape.

Wolf WR1, nice compact package.
Lotus 91, 1982 cars look commonly good.
Ligier JS27, great arrow-like shape and marvellous blue colour

Tyrrell 008, Brabham BT44/45, Arrows A2, March six wheeler, Minardi M185, i have to say that whilst i do like the way modern F1 cars look there really was something about the mid 70`s to the mid 80`s, small front wheels, cars sliding round corners, most cars looked different from one another, i remember the first time i saw the P34 on telly, i was only six but it just blew me away and i have loved F1 with a passion ever since, cheers Ken.

Jordan 1995...have hated all Jordan's since...but the green sleek machine with the almost non-existant sidepods was one of the best looking F1 monsters I've seen.

It was the last low nose Jordan also.

On the whole, 1995 had the 'best looking' grid...that 412-T2 was nice too! The proper Ferrari red sure helped.

Also the Pacific PRO2 (slow as hell, but...), Footwork FA16, Tyrrell 023 & Benetton B195 were pretty graceful. (I'm getting all nostalgic now, that was my first F1 season!)

(Notable exceptions: the Forti FG01-95, the Ligier-Mugen JS41 [basically an old Benetton B194] & the ugliest award again, the McLaren MP4/10!!! :vomits: )

I always thought that the Ensign N176 was very pretty. Simple, light and nicely proportioned.

Also loved the Shadow DN-5 with the high airbox-tasty.

The Lotus 72 throught the 72D were nice and the Lotus 79 darned near perfect.

Also liked the 1984 Benetton-sponsored ALFA Romeo.

More recently, the '93/94 Saubers were sweet as was the 91 Jordan.

Got me on the ground clearance But take note of the era the posted cars are coming from! I forgot how great that Ferrari looked and without all the sponsor tattoos.
