Very good point. It wouldn't be the first time it's happened in the WTCC, probably not the last.

WTCC has always had problems at certain circuits, but the remaining circuits on the calendar should not be so hard on the tyres

In the end, Nordschleife is rather useless for these kind of cars and especially for this size of grids.
17 cars on 22km look strange and can be boring like hell. |

Honda remains on 40KG. Lynk and Audi gain 10KG.
How does Hyundai remain on 0KG? Hyundai Poll to Win for first aka main race. Makes no sence to me. |

Lynk & Co pull their cars from race 1 after the formation lap due to issues around tyre wear at Vallelunga.
19 minutes to go in race 1, 3 cars have had punctures already.... 15 minutes... thats 4... Last edited by tux; 24 Jul 2022 at 09:33. |

From TCT I gather 6 cars finished without issue? And the chequered flag wasn't shown?
Or 5 even, as one of those had pitted for a puncture and caught up? |

That was another farce that the championship absolutely did not need.
Most likely a mix of heat, dirty track and fast layout with long sweeping corners, however Goodyear durability this year is very worrying. Though, Cyan's behaviour is not very good anyway. Everytime they run into big problems, they moan about BoP and blame organisers to get some changes. Same happened after Slovakia 2019 and Estoril 2021 |

I think its good they've kept the racing going today and not bowed down to lynk & Co again. If they wanna throw the championship away then let them carry on and be cry babies and stay in the pitlane.

7 unaffected finishers in R2?
But it's ok, because next time in this world series we go to a narrow, twisty club circuit nobody has ever heard of! |

Romeo Ferraris also withdrew from ETCR after a puncture incident.

After what happened at the Nurburgring, the last thing we needed was something like this, when two top teams withdrew. The series has the ingredients to make a good championship, but it's being let down too often due to bad decisions

You say that like it's a grid of 30 cars. When there's only 12 cars in the race in the first place then you have more unaffected than affected

Whats the problem? In the moment, there is a problem with tyres, which i can't decide, who is really to blame for. Maybe it is due to outside heat, aggresive setups, hard curves, too perfect chassis etc? Maybe it is weight, maybe it is driver. And of course there are too less cars and a real bad coverage by Eurosport (and they pay for the series!!!). If we loose WTCR, i don't belive there will be any more touring cars on the tracks (only some guys who use old TCR stuff until worn off). WTCR is showcase for TCR machinery, so it should have the best drivers and teams around. But of course world championship is very expensive now, and a lot of manufacturers start so concentrate on electric engines. So WTCR will be more hard to get up than ever. I have never seen any ETCR race until now, so can't decide, if this might be interesting or if this is real alternative for future. In general it looks a bit odd, starting with names (Pool Fast & Pool Furious)... @Evantra: club circuit doesn't mean, that racing will be bad. I don't see, that it needs a lot for good racing, just a nice layout. Maybe we all will be happy after this race. Maybe it is my chance to see WTCR without much traveling :-) @Rubio: Of course Lynk&Co. make a lot of noise, because they don't want to change anything, which they make look slow. And of course 80kg more is a lot. Did we had this not before with Hyundai last year? |
