Friday Practice - Bahrain
Doesn't seem to have been much serious running done in session 1.
For the record, Zonta quickest followed by Schumacher M. |

Neither Renault set a time either. Not many laps being put down. Is this a case of people not wasting time on a dusty track. Test drivers excluded.
A good start for the new Ferrari. |

the two times I think stand out a bit are MS and JV - don't think the rest mean much. There really is something amiss when teams spend gazillions running around empty racetracks and then when people pay to watch they get this. Hope the Renault and Toyota fans enjoyed that session!

Ominous start for the new Ferrari in Michaels hands........then again, they have been in a similar practice position at both races this year.

MS does look invincible, but not really comparable without Renault...first qual should be more informative...

Hmm, puzzling pace from Ferrari, good in the first session, seemingly no where in the second...
EDIT(latest): M Schu locks up and abandons a lap... |

The Mclarens are fast...Pedro has just gone 1:32:333, still not good enough for Alonso's Renault at P2

MS has had 4 lock-ups in this session! Rubinho is not running in this session. Strange things happening at Ferrari

Apparently there are no problems with the car but as there are only two of them (no spare) they do not want to run the risk of an accident. So Rubinho is not running in this session.

Looks like McLaren, Renault, Ferrari and Toyota will all be in the hunt here then.

Yes,the competiotion is going to be between Renault, Mclaren, Ferrari and Toyota. Williams have not been very impressive, though they had some new parts for this weekend, and expected to be stronger than at Sepang.

Sound slike anyone who paid to go to the session today has been ripped off. Virtually nothing of any meaning has been done, all thanks to the obsession with conservation (ironic in such an oil-rich country). Hopefully 2-day race weekends will be brought in by 2006.
The new Ferrari looks good so far. It's interesting to see that they've given Rubens the day off and made their #2 driver (who's contractually obliged to help their main driver challenge for the championship) do all the donkey work in getting the car set up..... |

Its very pleasing to 24 cars out on a race track, if only they had the same amount for the races.

Williams have never been interested in headlines when testing - just wait for qualifying, they'll be right up there.

The speed trap data is interesting:
1. de la Rosa 329.2 2. Wurz 328.6 3. Zonta 328.1 4. Doornbos 327.8 5. Alonso 326.3 6. Monteiro 326.0 7. M Schumacher 325.6 8. Raikkonen 325.3 9. Karthikeyan 324.9 10. Fisichella 323.5 All three Jordans in the top 10? All three McLarens, as well. Also interesting are the Saubers in 20th and 22nd, and the Williams cars in 17th and 23rd... |

JV has reduced the gap to Massa quite significantly. He seems to be improving with every session. Hope he comes out on top in the race.

Mc Larens strong....Easier life for Friday drivers as they do not have to worry about engine nor tyres.....I wonder why Fisichella's off the pace again....
