I heard the cars were already here, and teams yet to get back...

Whatever, it looks like Sillystone Bank Holiday weekend for me.

My son is devastated. He had interviews lined up for lendurance with the Ford GT girls, and Natasha goes and breaks not just the car but herself... Perhaps she'll let him sign her cast?

All timetables I can find say the qualifying race is on at 17:15 on the Saturday, and the Sunday main race being on at 15:15.

If Abu Dhabi was anything to go by, it will be a cracking weekend at Silverstone. The cars were ace and we had some good racing over at AD.

I've received my raceday ones, I got them a couple of weeks ago. It's shame the qualifying race is on Saturday. I had sort of assumed that both GT1 races would be on Sunday. It should be good though, even though I'm not a fan of short, 1 hour sprint GT races.

Was thinking of going on the Sunday this time but not sure whether its worth it. Only a pathetic 1 hour long Main event, plus no GT2 race.

It just doesn't seem worth travelling 100 miles for.

And the flip side of the coin -

I'm coming down from Perth (403 miles according to Gmaps) and can't wait. The sprint format double races were a breath of fresh air and looked like a lot of fun at AD. As much as I love love Le Mans, not all sportscar races have to take forever to run and it's a shame the purists are being quite snooty about it. I've very much enjoyed the GT3 the last 3 years and don't see why it shouldn't be good again, GT4 too should it actually exist (haven't heard any news for ages.)

The F3 will be less interesting than watching paint dry onto some growing grass if last year was anything to go by though - it was rubbish last year. Could have done with a little more on the support act side, I'll agree.

Well I hope you will forgive me for disagreeing, but I am travelling 125 miles and arriving on Friday and camping for the weekend. I have been for the past two years and really enjoyed it. I know the format is different this year, but having watched the first races, I was very impressed.

100 miles? Im flying from Dublin to Luton and then driving to Silverstone on Saturday morning then staying nearby til Monday, GT3 alone will be worth going for, not to mention GT1, so a 600 mile round trip in total

Having been involved in various motorsport disciplines over the years; organisation, competing and media, 1 thing Ive noticed is that English people wont travel if its more than 100 miles from their front door! Bit of a generalisation I know but sportscar fans tend to be more committed!

Can't wait after finally seeing the first races today. Hope the cars are balanced more however. If I am correct, it is also the first race on Silverstone's new 'arena' layout. The GT3's will be a welcome start aswell. Hell, with the simalar race formats, they should just run them together. GT3 is really what GT2 should be anyways IMO. Leave the pros and factory (backed) teams to GT1 (which is where this series goes wrong I think).

Dude, if you go for both GT1 races, and the GT3s, it sure seems well worth it.

Then again, with how spread out things are in the States, relatively speaking, compared to Europe, I have a different perspective. The nearest track that hosts ALMS is Road America, and that's a 13-hour drive EACH WAY. Flying isn't much better, because of how far in advance you have to show up at the airport, and how long layovers can take. Plus, we'd probably be just as quick renting a car in Chicago or Minneapolis/St. Paul than trying to get a connection somewhere closer to Elkhart Lake.

So it was worth it last year for just one more hour?

Its roughly 100 miles for me too, although most of the time its a quick blast down the A46 and the M1, doesn't take too long. I don't like the race being for a single hour, but I'm not missing it, certainly not with four Lamborghinis!

Makes me happy that I'm 30 minutes from Sillystone. Seeing as I'll be there all 3 days! As will my lad. Lendurance have a busy week, with this, then Classic Media Day on Wednesday, and leaving Thursday for a road trip to Spa.

Can't wait!

Hotel room booked, just the prayers for good weather to be done now.

Well it would have been more worth it if I didn't have to pack my Telescope now because of all the circuit changes.

Still might go just to see how bad the new changes look, sort of how some people find a Train wreck fascinating...

I will be there, although spectator side of the fence, missed the media accreditation deadline due to copius amounts of uni work taking priority over everything. However, I can not wait, four Lambo's, DBR9's and MC12's. Lots of gorgeous V12 noise and many decibels of V8 thunder as well, this is going to be a good one. May book myself into a hotel for the saturday night and go on both day's depending on monies.

Hopefully we will have some good weather as well, i've been revelling in the weather recently, can not remember the last time there was this much sunshine

Will be there on Sunday representing TORA and doing some bits and bobs. Shame it's only an hours race but as I'll be there nice and early it should give me plenty of time to explore the new track abit.
'Normal' pictures in the morning, new section pics during the race itself. Missed the wail of those Lambos last year, can't WAIT to enjoy that again. Makes the three hour trip worthwhile.
There should be a reasonable bunch of us TORA folk there so feel free to stop us and say hi

Definitely, although I don't think they're quite the same as before, going off YouTube footage.
