What do you mean by "wrong side", please? The right side, which can be either right or left, is when the driver is sitting in front of the steering wheel. If not, we call him a passenger…*

But if you take one setup for the left, where it is on the right, then when you go onto the right, the right is still right.
Conversely, take one setup for the right, where it is on the left, then when you go onto the left, the right is still left.

With the good news that the Thruxton Historic meeting is going to be run over the weekend of the 15th and 16th August the only thing missing for myself is a Formula Two race to commemorate the Easter Monday European Championship races held from 1968 to 1984. Here are a selection of photographs from the last time Formula Two cars raced at Thruxton, the Derek Bell Trophy race run on Easter Sunday 2015 along with Steven Worrad's Chevron which was demonstrated at the Thruxton Historic in 2019.

Joining the Formula Two and Atlantic cars on Easter Sunday 2015 were several Formula 5000s and Michael Lyons Hesketh Grand Prix car. Here is Lyons winning Hesketh and the Formula 5000 field.

Love this kind of humor, thanks! This reminds me when I had to write an article about the Land Rover origins, no one could tell for sure why the first prototypes had a centre wheel. Bearing in mind that some Panhard&Levassor were said to have a center wheel when its was not exactly that…

I always hesitate before driving a RHD car. Too many questions jump to my mind… Is the throttle pedal on the right or on the left? Will my arms be long enough to catch the wheel and the gearstick? How should a call the passenger, "the boss", "ex future former boss" or "bag of sand"? Really confusing, ya no… OK, back to the pictures, it was bauble's birthday stupid koueschions…

The only two photos that were in my possession, which my son found this afternoon in his attic. One, a proper Special Saloon built and raced by yours truly in the 60s, and one of me signing autographs for my adoring fans and groupies.

It has just been determined that the little scallywag collecting autographs is one, extremely young, Andrew Kitson of this very parish. He admits that he just got anyone wearing a racing suit to sign his book, regardless of who they were, hence mine!

Easter Monday 1976 saw the European Formula Two championship descend on Thruxton. Italian hotshoe Maurizio Flammini took pole and led from start to finish with Jean Pierre Jabouille chasing and closing to within a second until he tripped over a backmarker three laps from home. My pictures show Flammini's winning March being loaded up, Jabouille being given a lift by his brother-in-law Jose Dolhem, Ingo Hoffman in his Hart engined March, Rene Arnoux in a Martini Renault, Giorgio Francia in a Osella BMW and Willi Lovato in his Chevron BMW.

Great set of pics 'Cheddars'. Use to love the F2's back then myself, sadly those (Euro Championship) guys would only have visited once to UK per season .
