FREE Championship Registration - NW FF1600

Subject: BWD Rensburg sponsorship for 2004 – Race with Free Championship Registration

The aim of this is to provide all drivers who compete in the NW Championship with financial help not just the winners. This will be done by refunding the registration fee (£50) to all drivers who do 5 rounds or more of this series during 2004 . Drivers can also have a free consultation (if they wish) with one of BWD Rensburg's financial advisers . BWD Rensburg are regulated by the Financial Services Authority and offer completely independent advice on a very broad range of matters for both companies and individuals. We can save you money on taxes ,so you can do even more racing and still have enough beer money and enough cash to keep the missus quiet. We have offices in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Belfast, Glasgow and recently, London. The way it works is that drivers must first pay the registration fee (£50), which for 2004 will cover all rounds in the North West, Midlands, Southern and C. Combe FF1600 Championships. Drivers who then do 5 rounds or more in the N.West series only will get the refund cheque which will be sent direct to them by BWD Rensburg. Even if the driver cannot do the race due to a problem in testing or qualifying then so long as they have paid their race entry fee, and don't get a race entry refund, then this counts as a race done. For those that normally do races in the other regional championships, they can get the refund in the same way as regular N.West drivers, so long as they have paid the initial registration fee and do the minimum 5 rounds of the N.West Championship. A double header counts as 2 rounds done. Also it doesn't matter if you do some rounds in a pre '87 car and some rounds in a post '86 car they will all count as rounds done. I hope this covers all the points, but do come back to me if you think I have missed anything that people might argue or get arsey about. If they want they can phone me (Day 0151 227 2030, Evening 01244 851003, Mobile 07989 594164) or e-mail me on swild@bwd-rensburg.co.uk "To be eligible, the driver must display a BWD Rensburg decal on each side of the car"
Cheers . Seamus

Excellent idea, thanks to Seamus for finding a way of putting something back into the sport.

We just need Avon to do something with the tyres now.

You would think that with a Championship with over 60 drivers, they would supply some sort of support. I mean, not only do we have to get the tyres + vat + carriage, but we have to go and get them fitted and balanced. All of a sudden, you are upto over £400 per set. Now if Avon had a small unit in support (which would be worth their while when you look at how many tyres the front guys get through), that would save on the delivery and they would do the fitting and balancing. I think they might find people changing their tyres more often due to the reduced overheads of purchasing a set. Dunlop used to have a support unit........

Nice thought Walshy. be good to get some better deals, especially as there seems to be more and more of us buying tyres each season.

you NW boys seem to have a good setup this year, if i werent so far away i'd love to pop up and play

Would be good to have some Combe and Midlands boys up to play a few times this year although if we are on the Fosters circuit then it looks like we will fill the grids and have reserves!!!

All this action in FF1600 and the BRSCC doesn't want anything to do with Club FF1600???

brscc are very short sighted though.

if there are that many the you could have heats then the final, KoK style. actually not sure if that would work. Seriously if you got say 6+ reservers every race what could be done to give everyone a race?

Not wanting to start a riot, but most things that are expressed to the BRSCC tend to fall on deaf ears. The drivers come up with some really great, plausible idea's and nothing ever comes of them. What we do need though and the few have said this year after year, is better attendances at the Centres AGM.
Come on lads. The more of us making noise, the better our arguement.

You'll like this. I have just been browsing through formula1600.com and came across this, very simple to understand how many entries, starters, starter selection explanation for an FF1600 race, to be held at Lime Rock Park on Memorial Day in May 04
Quote:

Greg, Hi, hope you are well. Regarding the number of starters, I am going to confuse you and everyone else, but here goes.
Just for this example, if there are 50 entries, and of those 50, 50% are FF or 25 cars, 35% NCF or 18 cars, and 15% CF cars or 8 cars, YES THOSE ARE ROUNDED NUMBERS, BEAR WITH ME PEOPLE,then the fastest 50% of the 30 car field, or 15 cars, BASED ON A GRID OF 30 QUALIFIED STARTERS, WAIT, DON'T FREAK YET, the fastest 35% of 30, or 11 NCF, and 15% of 30, or 5 CF cars, for a field of 15 + 11 + 5=31. Then there is a non-qualifiers race for the 19 cars not yet qualified made up of 10 FF, 7 NCF, and 3 CF. The top 2 in each class transfer to the Feature along, another 6 cars, so we're at 37, with one promoters option and one hard luck transfer for a total grid of 39 which is just one over the "legal" limit of 25 per mile X 1.53=38. Confused ?
At least all entrants get a race on the day, a lucky few have two races, and hopefully those who do not run the feature through natural selection [mechanicals, incidents, etc] still have a good event.
More as soon as it is known. Or understood.
Methinks I'll run this past the BRSCC as I think it is 'the way forward for NW FF1600'
