Was that the one with a #54 on it?

That car sported a Group C style bodykit, if its the Clinton car then it would have undergone a makeover post-1986.

I assume the Clinton car was a different car to the Prince-driven XJS that ran in New Zealand Group A races?

The Alan Prince / ?? Horrigan ( sp ) car is still in what looks to be original Group A trim - looking as immaculate as it always does. Every year the Jag club in Auckland has a show at the ( I think ) Alexandra Park trots stables. Last year ( or this year I can't remember ) the car was there - my Dad took a photo of it. I'll see if I can find it. I don't think it has been on the track in a few years, although I do remember seeing it run at Pukekohe around 2003 or 4?? at a TACCOC marshals day. I even took video of it which I think I still have.

I don't know any of the history of the car, and haven't been able to find anything about it either. It is / was driven by Alan Prince and Michael Hourigan.

Michael Hourigan owned and ran The Toy Shop in Wellington for many years, and prepared amount others the Andrew Bagnall Porsche 911 Carrera RS ( type 964 ) which was campaigned in the Nissan Mobil 500 Street Race support races and the Bridgestone Porsche series and a few other appearances. Michael has since relocated The Toy Shop to Auckland.

This photo was taken by my Dad at the previously mentioned annual Jag day in Auckland, in September 2008. The sign on the windscreen reads:

Maunfacture: Jaguar
Model / Year: XJS Coupe / 1977
Form / Year: Group A / 1982
FIA / Homologation: A-5023
Engine / Capacity: V12 / 5343cc
Rated: 414 BHP / 7200 RPM
Transmission: 5 Speed Getrag
Final Gear: 3.73:1 / 16 Inch Wheels
Weight / Brakes: 1390 KGS / vented

xjs jaguar group a

Hi all, I have the Prince/Hourigan XJS in my workshop at present for a refurbishment, having sat the last 17 odd years in a garage doing bugger all. Jaguar man Les Parkinson had the car after Hourigan, and used it for classic racing. The new owner is returning the car to period spec, including "patina" and will run the car in historic group A races. Any photos or interesting info appreciated ! Regards, Angus Fogg

And some info from the Sunday Times Jan '87 preview for the NM500:

Will the car be ready for Hampton Downs next month?

Shame,it would be so much better in its final Group C form or even as he 1st raced it mode.
Must be odd when it and the correct winning car turn up at the same meeting.
Having never scene it it modern times,is it quick? sound tough ect?

I saw it at Muscle Car Masters a couple of times on display, but I can't recall ever seeing or hearing it run.

You're right though, it'd be a lot nicer to see it in an appearance it actually raced in.

Sounds exactly like the 3 real ones did at Bathurst 85.....gloriously loud!!
Gossy gives it enough curry at the MCMs each year but would be nice to see it in one of its group c configs.
82 spec was nice...84 even better.
