I love a good conspiracy theory, if this event was a horse race they would swab the lot. I somehow can't begin to understand why a very old in racing terms motor can be competitive now against nearly equal to an updated PU when the same motor was not so good a while ago. Also the customer teams which were all of a sudden nowhere are up near the front of the secondary teams. Sauber were absolutely nowhere a few races ago and all of a sudden they have found places in the field for no apparent reason. Looking at HAAS I would say swab them twice.

Did you scream conspiracy when Mercedes were equally as far ahead of everyone?

Plus, if Lewis didn't destroy his gearbox, you'd have to say he could have bested Bottas and potentially caught pole

Given Hamilton had a mechanical in Q1, and the cars are in parc ferme conditions. How can they fix the car without breaking parc ferme and loosing grid places?

A clean and uneventful start as Vettel takes the lead.

Ricciardo is up to 13th but having a harder time of it.

It is possible that, not completing qualifying, the car never entered parc ferme. Although, I believe that there is something written into the rules that allows teams to carry out part replacement after qualifying, under FIA scrutiny, with the agreement of the other teams.



The other teams automatically agree as it could be their car that needs to be worked on at the next race. What cannot be changed, though, are such things as the suspension settings, gear ratios, etc.

They can do like for like if presenting the replaced parts to the FIA.


How in the hell can they not exclude LH for cutting the pit lane? He committed and then cut across the grass to return to track because VB was stuck with the wrong tires in his pit box.

because there is nothing wrong? Do we know there is a rule that prevents this? And it is exclusion from the race! How can that be consistent with some other situation that is different!?

Or do we just think that there should be one because we don’t think F1 has enough rules?

Ban him for the next GP. This is far too interesting for F1.

Because they have previously excluded people for intentional cutting off safety markers and there is a commit bollard at pit lane. He was right of the bollard and in pit lane then cut through and exited. The proper line is to driven through, which would have cost him no time as they were under SC and he was in front. What's the point of having the rule and commit marker but then saying well it's Lewis so who gives a F. Then get rid of the bollard and let everyone dive for pit lane as they used to. Oh that's why cause people have died doing that stupidity.
