1960's Wilson GT (Threads merged)
Has anyone come across the Wilson GT?
All we have found so far is that it was entered in the Wills Trophy at Croft on the 14 August 1966, where it failed to qualify (even with a quicker time than some who did) Richard |

weirdly, someone emailed me about it's gearbox just recently
Post up some photos Richard, as it may well be that someone will recognise it, but not necessarily under that name - just like my old car. Use imageshack or similar to post photos. Al |

I have just found an entry for this car (or a second car) in a supporting race at the European Saloon Car 500km at Snetterton on 31 July 1966. A Mr A.Mackintosh is down as both entrant and driver, the car being fitted with a 1588cc engine (probably the Ford pushrod) and coloured blue and white.
I have no details of whether it arrived, practiced and raced. Interestingly, the car (if there is only one) appears to have been driven by Mackintosh in July 1966 and September 1966, but by Wilson in August 1966. Were they partners in this enterprise? |

I've looked at the Ingliston website but there are few photos of GTs racing.
However I've delved into my archives. It's first mention at Ingliston was at the October 65 meeting when Wilson was a reserve but as there were 4 non starters he would have to got a run but only the top four are listed. it is listed as 1560cc Looking through my 66 programmes, the car raced there in May 66 driven by Macintosh but did not finish in the top 4. It raced again in July under Wilson/Macintosh and had a 1598cc engine. I've not got a full set of programmes but I can see no mention of it at Croft around that time. Also neither of the drivers seem to have appeared before or after. is there any sign of the roof or how it was attached? Hope that helps. |

Both Tim Wilson and Alistair MacKintosh were partners, with Alistair taking the car on. The Wilson was designed by Jo Marquart (McLaren, Modus, Argo etc.) and was his first race car design. Originally the car ran a pre cross flow Ford driving through a Hewland Mk5. The Engine was running very high compression to try and compete with the Lotus Twin Cams, as such it was usually quite quick or blew up! |

bit cheeky, but does anyone have or know of a Hewland MK8 (or earlier) that is available - we are struggling to find one.
