Talk of this being a two-year programme is all well and good, but conventional perceived wisdom has always spoken of three years being necessary to gain a LM victory when there's already first class opposition.
They've said a minimum of two years for the factory cars, they'll also start delivery of four customer cars later this year.

If you're talking about Kronos, the thing they are lacking for the race isn't budget so much as an entry. They're just prepping for the race and crossing their fingers that they'll be bumped up from the reserve list.

Yep, so pretty much on the pace from the start, although a bit lacking in reliability. IIRC, the debut at Mosport was behind schedule- Weren't they supposed to have been out much earlier in the season- I've got a vague memory of of TWR making Le Mans entries in '85, then withdrawing them?

I think it's painfully obvious that Prodrive and AMR are a long way from where they'd want to be right now- the question has to be how long will it take them to get there, given that they obviously don't have the kind of financial resources that Peugeot and Audi can bring to the game. The important thing now I guess is to keep working away at development and keep getting plenty of test and race mileage on the car.

HPD came out of the box this year and did pretty well against the diesel- with a car that's a development of something they've been running since 2007. The chassis and engine are a proven competitive product. Prodrive/AMR are starting from scratch...

The Aston GT cars are built for a customer market (and successfully- they've sold a lot of GT3/4 cars) If they stopped spending the money building them, then they can kiss goodbye to the income it generates....

Development of the AMR-One continues with a two day test at Spa.
Let's hope that most of the teething problems are solved before Sunday. It would be nice to see how the AMR-One compares to the 908 and R18 in Le Mans.

They have also adopted a swan neck support for the rear wing: Le Mans vs launch version.

I just double checked. In Paul Ricard they did not yet run with the swan neck version: http://endurance-info.com/version2/g...011_JS_149.jpg

http://www.mulsannescorner.com/newsmarch11.html explains why there are two exhaust. The big one is the primary exhaust and the small one is the wastegate.

well of course, if the rules had proper equivilancy then it would all be different....

The car is ugly, slow, unreliable, has no special technology on it, run under-budget & is driven by pay drivers.

Just sod off already & stop robbing grid slots from more deserving cars please

In theory the engine is sort of special: straight 6 direct injection turbo with unusable fire order. In practice it is also special because of the rate at the engine blows

Since when is Darren Turner, Stefan Mucke, or Harold Primat pay drivers? Maybe you should look at their C.V's.

Fernandez, Primat & Meyrick all bring money (plus the fact that they have pre-sold the cars to collectors to finance the effort rather than stumping up cash themselves - hardly the actions of a proper factory team)
