Now that would be an interesting phone call to listen in on

Hi Mark. As I'm sure you are aware, you are pretty awful at touring car racing. Would you mind us using your name to anger fans so that they are more happy when we announce you are in fact not racing for us?

Mark?

Oh. He hung up.

That would be ace, but he also mentions Prodrive. Prodrive built the crazy WRX he did an Isle of Man lap in last year, so I would guess some sort of record attempt again.

That isn't how it played out in my head, but now I see, it is pretty ridiculous... Lol

Not sure if the links will work but we have a livery design for Maximum:

I really like the Jelley livery. The green on the other Focus is a bit garish for my liking but looks an improvement on last year so long as the sponsors are left relatively simple.

Problem for Tom Chilton. A tweak to the WTCC calendar has resulted in a clash between his dual BTCC/WTCC campaigns this year...

Would imagine he'll sit out the BTCC round then; no disrespect to PMR, but he will most likely have a better chance of competing for the WTCC title than the BTCC title.

How soon into the season is the clash? When will he have to make the decision?

July. So could easily see how it goes before deciding.

I would guess one of PMR's drivers from VW / VAG Cup would stand in for him? Either that or Abbott; doesn't look like he'll get a drive this year.

Has it? Where is the clash? No BTCC on July 16 (new date of Argentina round).

You're right, there's no clash. People need to learn to read.

Dan Welch's latest tweet:

" Busy times ahead! 3 tracks next week "

That must include media day at Donington - likely he would be there anyway but I would absolutely love to see him get that BMR drive.

Though I doubt that will happen, it'll be interesting to see what progess he can make this year and hopefully Welch Motorsport will return as the 2 car team they want in 2018.

Rather unnecessary statement....

Apologies all, seems a journalist had misreported this, had trusted they had it right!

Why must it include Donington? If anything, it's unlikely to include Donington. And if he's not driving this season, why would he be at the press day?

More likely that it will be with the Porsche that his team are running this year.

Because he's made it clear he has unfinished business with the championship - its a press day so in my mind a good oppurtunity to attract sponsors for next year?
He was at the BTCC stand at ASI so he's making it clear he wants to stay with the BTCC.

I know he won't get the drive and he is driving the Porsche, I was just stating how good it would be if he did.

He has no car, why would he even bother attending?! He's not going to get any publicity. Read a suggestion elsewhere that it'll be Hunter Abbot with his own team name and livery.

Can it be someone like Alain Menu back with BMR? Or someone from the WTCC since there is no clash this year. Or is the sport trying to get someone from Britain or Ireland in that car no matter what? Would make sense as it still is a local championship.

BMR are trying to get a driver with budget into the car. The more the better. The seat will go to the driver who can bring the most. (And it will be Mark Howard).

Is it just me, i really don't see anything in Hunter Abbot at all, the very definition of average at best.

But, like others have been saying, why is it assumed that Howard has a large budget simply because he's less talented? He struggled with payments to BKR last season, and whilst it is not impossible that this has changed for this year, it is not a given.
