Hmm. Well there's a few towns in France called Villeneuve, as well as a place called Wimille. There's a place in Ontario called Schumacher.

Am I getting close?

Er my first idea was a nation as I supposed Schumi had won that race which took place twice in his own country under the name of Luxemburg GP. But I was wrong. Wimille won the Luxemburg GP in 39, Villoresi in 49, Ascari in 50 (in Luxemburg, sports cars race), Jacques Villeneuve in 1997 (Nurburgring) and no... it was Hakkinen which won in 1998. Zut !!!

But i've found some substitute answers. And sorry to have spent your time for nothing. And now forget Jacques, play with Jean-Pierre, Gigi, Alberto, Gilles and Michale... Don't hope to find a race.

There is a town called Schumaker in Ontario, Canada. A Wimille in France. A few Villeneuve's in France and Italy and a Villoresi in Italy (Spelt slightly different)

Anyone know a town called Ascari ?

No it will not I'm afraid.

I'm 99% sure there is a town in Italy called Ascari. The Italian Navy named all their ships after towns and after a search I found a WWII ship called Ascari.

Here some answers:
1)- They each were team mate of a World Champion:
Farina and Fangio (Wimille), Farina, Ascari and Hawthorn (Villoresi), Farina and Hawthorn (Ascari), Hunt and Scheckter (Villeneuve), Piquet (Schumacher).

2)- They each drove for 2 teams which won the World Championship (or which entered a World champion before 1958):
Wimille drove for Bugatti (1926 World Champion) and Alfa Romeo (1925, 1950, 1951), Villoresi and Ascari drove for Ferrari and Maserati (never officially World champion but Fangio won the 1957 Championship driving a Maserati), Villeneuve drove for McLaren (yes one GP, the 1977 British GP) and Ferrari, Schumacher drove for Benetton and Ferrari.

3)- They all won the last GP race of a season: Wimille in 1945 (Bois de Boulogne), Villoresi in 1948 (Penya Rhin), Ascari in 1949 (Juan Peron trophy at Buenos-Aires, Villeneuve in 1978 (Canada GP), Schumacher in 2001 (Japanese GP).

4)- They each switch for another team during a season:
Wimille switched from Bugatti to Alfa Romeo (a private car) in 1932, Villoresi and Ascari switched from Maserati to Ferrari in 1949, Villeneuve switched from McLaren to Ferrari in 1977, Schumacher switched from Jordan to Benetton in 1991...

5)- I must admit I didn't think to a town called Villoresi nor Ascari.

But:
a) there were some cars called Wimille (built by JP Wimille), Ascari and Schumacher (yes a car which took part in the Vanderbilt Cup and maybe Indianapolis).

b) Which Villoresi, which Ascari, which Villeneuve, which Schumacher ?
Yes Emilio and "Gigi", Antonio and Alberto, Gilles and Jacques (x2) + Louis (no connection), Michael and Ralf but 1 Wimille: Jean-Pierre.

There were the Wimille hillclimb (which was part of the Boulogne or Le Touquet meeting in 1927)...
