They sent all the troops to win it.

if it rains, it's legit to expect many 911 in top10.
Will track limits be respected this year in FP and Q?

992-based GT3R revealed. Looks a bit like the 991-based GT3R.

Lights tie in with the 963.

Thread Resuscitation...

Dennis Olsen has announced this morning he is no longer a Porsche driver.

Apparently Matteo Cairoli is rumoured to be leaving too. If so that's two good GT drivers Porsche will have lost.

MICHELIN 992 ENDURANCE CUP POWERED BY PORSCHE MOTORSPORT

Creventic 12-hour race in Spa exclusively for the latest Porsche 911 GT3 Cup
- Porsche Motorsport and Creventic launch a new endurance race
- Spa hosts the debut of the long-distance race on 6/7 September 2024
- Reserved exclusively for 992-generation 911 Cup cars
- Race tyres and on-site service by long-standing Porsche partner Michelin

Porsche Motorsport and series organiser Creventic have created a new event for the current 911 GT3 Cup: the Michelin 992 Endurance Cup powered by Porsche Motorsport. The 12-hour race will be run on the 6/7 September 2024 at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. This event is reserved exclusively for customer teams fielding 992-generation 911 GT3 Cup cars.

With the Michelin 992 Endurance Cup powered by Porsche Motorsport, Porsche Motorsport and Creventic offer the first endurance race solely for the latest 911 GT3 Cup. The debut of the new event specifically for the 375 kW (510 PS) one-make cup vehicle will be contested at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, at the beginning of September. Only participants fielding the 992-generation 911 GT3 Cup model are eligible to compete. Competitors will face a 12-hour race on one of the most demanding circuits in the world: The 7.004-kilometre “Ardennes rollercoaster” features 21 corners and several long, full-throttle passages through the forested mountains of Wallonia.

The Creventic organisation provides the sporting regulations for the endurance race. The technical framework is based on the successful one-make cup series that Porsche runs worldwide with the 911 GT3 Cup – with slight adaptations for long-distance racing. Registered teams fight for victory in the overall ranking as well as in the Pro, Pro/Am and Am classes. Michelin is the official tyre partner of the event. The premium manufacturer supplies racing tyres developed exclusively for the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and also supports customer teams in the paddock at the track.

“Many of our 911 GT3 Cup customers are already contesting the races as part of the 24H Series organised by Creventic,” explains Oliver Köppen, One-Make Series and GT Sport Manager at Porsche Motorsport. “That’s why we’re delighted to support Creventic’s latest initiative. It gives our customers another exciting opportunity to race their 992-Generation Cup Porsches in an endurance event on one of the world’s most popular Grand Prix circuits.”

Alessio Picariello is continuing as a Porsche driver, so where will he end up in 2024?

- DTM?
- ELMS GT3?
- Proton 963?
- WEC GT3?

A quick question about a few years ago

I recall the 911 was sort of mid engined and had side exhausts, quite the bloody loudest thing I ever heard at a track (and a include the earlier sonorous piped car)

It did not last long, can anyone tell me why it did not last, as the cars quickly went back to the normal style maybe fully rear engined again and rear pipes?

I don't know about the why, but the GTE-cars were mid-engined all the way till the end of the class.

As the GTE class regulations were more liberal than in GT3, they were allowed to rotate the engine/gearbox unit of 180° in order to bring less weight on the rear. This new position was kept from 2017 till 2023.
