For Aussie viewers the race is on Kayo and beIN Sports on Foxtel.

Every year. There must be a better way than just letting people turn up to standing water on slicks. So many cars out.
Genuinely terrifying. Man, please, WTF is going on? This is clearly not raceable conditions. Race director?????? Last edited by tux; 5 Jun 2021 at 14:32. |

You think this is shaping to be another N'Ring 16 or 17 hour race rather than 24? It seems that the race organizers have no hesitation to red flag the race during the night if there is rain.

Can someone explain the pit stop time situation? There’s some kind of mathematical equation? It’s WEC all over again isn’t it? Where you’ve no idea what’s going on unless you spend all year studying the rules ?

Just a few minutes ago commentators talked about this maybe being a good time for the Frikadelli team to take a 5-minute break early on. WHAT? |

Been watching a few of the onboard streams and there doesn’t seem to be much traffic this year.

Yeah grid numbers for non-GT3 cars has reduced..by a lot...a really big lot. By more than half from 2019. Stinks for them, but not a big deal to me as I just pay attention to GT3. So yeah less of a chance for slow zones and stuff. Which in itself is fine. Because the N24 does not have full course safety cars you can claim it is the most genuine endurance race out there today.

I have heard that the more the stint is long, the more the car has to spend time in the pit. What is the logical purpose of this rule ? Is it specific to this race ?

Edited to add: I believe the answer to your specific question is that the intention is to set a total in-pit time for the whole race. So a longer stint means a longer stop, the assuption being that if you keep doing that the total time will be the same as someone who stops more often but for less time. The intention of the minimum time is to entirely remove the pressure to do it quickly, for safety and to reduce errors by tired amateur mechanics. It also stops teams whining that they got a slower fuel flow from their pump than someone else did. Last edited by Anyopenroad; 5 Jun 2021 at 20:25. |

Since there are not enough pits or fuelling rigs for every car, they equalise the pit stops so that there is no "ideal" strategy and that way different teams can pit at different times without being penalised. |

See my post #2281 on this thread earlier in the day :-) Prediction heading to be true. The race organizers have become so scared and prudish now that at the first site of a drizzle they will shut the whole thing down until sunrise now.

Any year we get this weather its a let down. The 2019 N24 was very fun to watch. And we had no weather issues that year not coinciently. Spa 24 has been unwatchable for the past 3-4 years too. Just bad luck with the weather. At least the 6 hour Q-race was good for the N'Ring this year.
