I know of a T70 that was brought in from the USA last year.
"Original" chassis. Existing engine was 7ltr so that had to go. New engine obtained. Loads of history ... but the the chassis was deemed to have been adapted from, iirc, a Canam car. So no papers could be issued. Unless a new tub was used. I think there were some problems with the original transmission as well so that has either been rebuilt entirely or replaced. Not sure which at the moment. I can't help thinking that it would have been better to build a new car from scratch and leave the original with the provenance that it had and it's life in the sun in CA. And with its, now sold off, 7ltr engine. |

As for the engine, 5 ltr it has to be, and even my existing 350 cu would have to be stroked down. The gearbox HAS to be a Hewland LG 500 or LG600. Last edited by gt917; 30 Jan 2019 at 14:44. Reason: add to conversation |

At last I convinced four members of our local club to dare and go on the track. It took a while… Official race but no championship, a good start for un-experimented youngsters. Car is a Capri fitted with a 2.0 Pinto and a 5 speed gearbox. Few weeks before the race they decided to change the single Weber for a Rochester 2 chokes. Can I find some info here? Is it a good idea or a no, no? Money is an issue, I already gave help with suspensions, wheels and tires. Thanks.

I pushed them to fit two 44 or 48 IDF but lack of money and the hassle to adapt those carbs to a LHD Capri led them to change their minds… The mastervac and master cylinder take a lot of place in this area of the engine compartment…

That's a shame. At least it's working. Hope it goes well. When you next planning to run the Capri?

If you’re really interested in what races are happening in September, not just posting for the sake of it, may I suggest clicking on the calendar link at the head of this forum section? It will show you all the historic race meetings happening that month, or indeed any month of the season......

Progress. . . . . Actually drove it from workshop to garage!
Painfully slow progress for a number of reason, primarily because the last few bits are all bespoke. Exhaust manifold was painful, but superbly execute in the end so justified the outlay. https://www.facebook.com/11849666484...0676790941444/ |

About time we resurrected this thread. Anyone got anything interesting rebuilds going on.I know we " Delta" just dont have the time these days as the winter months are so short now, what with the racing not finishing until mid November and then starting up again for me anyway in February in SA.Anyway I have had a couple of Saturdays finishing of this latest and last Delta FF2000. The real interest for this project is for Max and Alex as I want Alex to test the car for us next year.

The bodywork looks familiar.....
Of course, you could always give yourself more time but not going racing in warmer climes during the winter.... |

As this seems as appropriate place as any to ask, can anyone help us with tracking down a set of caliper mounting brackets for the older Triumph Herald drum brake upright? We need a pair for our current winter project, but have only been able to find billet alloy reproductions so far

Maybe this Peter? I remembered an incident at the Brands meeting that Cliff had mentioned. I found the post....

Peter, EB is right, a rather unfortunate & premature end to our HSCC Escort races at Brands.
Thanks Mike, we did consider a rebuild into a new shell as Magnum panels will soon be remanufacturing them at a cost of about £12k for a bare shell, but decided on a rebuild rather than a re-shell. Will keep you posted on progress, but I doubt it will be completed this winter. |

When we had the big one at Goodwood, we used Willy Poole. He rescued the shell and a lot of panels.
