More of a question this one. Isn't that more to do with the type of car, El. In FJs, you have to carry lots of speed through the corners in order to be quick and Jowsey appears able to do that. Was he still quick in the F5000 car? If he was, then does it really matter how?

How quick, anyone got any times at circuits where 5000s raced in period, or where Force/TGPs run now. How does young Jowsey compare, either with 5000s in period, or with roughly comparable late 70s F1 cars ?

not sure if he raced the Lola anywhere that is close to the format that it was back in the day..Silverstone wasnt on GP circuit, Donington didnt exist as a venue at the time..racking my brain thinking where else he raced it

Can't compare his Donington times to TGP as it pi**ed it down for the TGP but was sunny and dry for Derek Bell Trophy race

I've been around for many years and I considered myself a competant driver. I've driven behind Edwin a few times, and his skill and driving accuracy is beyond belief for such a young lad. Obviously he hasn't had much experience but he can only get better!!

Edwin, you have a rare natural talent all you have to do is get to know your car and adapt.
If you have the natural talent you can drive anything! You just have to get to know your car and then you will fly! The true cost including vat for F.Renault 10 meetings, 20 races with all practices plus insurance, plus breakage, plus your own cost and expenses would be in the region £200,000.00. Before you think of this it is advisable to do a winter season, with vat this will cost you approx a further £60,000.00 F3 the total cost for a full summer and winter season will cost in the region of £800,000.00 plus. Good luck with everything! |

Paul,
Sorry, I've been out of touch for a few weeks..... Edwin tested with Status Motorsport at Kirkistown two weeks before Christmas and was very much on the pace for F.Renault here. While the class doesn't race over here, we have had our share of testers and Edwin was impressive. He approached it all with a sensible amount of caution and 'played himself in' in what is a very different driving proposition from FJ/F5000 -very stiff, very 'pointy', not much grip on a cold day. However Renault is a tough nut to crack, and karting experience probably counts for more than anything gained by driving other cars - especially in the 'cut and thrust' of actual racing. He's very good though, and with a 'proper' test programme under his belt......... |

I believe he's bought himself a FR2000 and is testing for next season.

He had a go in Asian F3 a couple of years ago (2007?) and a had a couple of races in the International Formula Masters.
In regards to the BRSCC F3 in 2008, he won the championship. |

He won BRSCC F3 in 2008, and did half the season in 2009. I think there was a toys out of the pram moment at Castle Combe after being black flagged for noise. The car was later sold to Dave Karaskas and campaigned in F3 Cup before an accident at Spa.
I understand Edwin he did a couple of Asian F3 meetings, possibly having a pretty big crash but I don't know anything after that. |

Didn't he try and do FR3.5 about 5 or 6 years ago with Comtec?
He was a long way off.... |

A bit pedantic; however, in 2008, the BRSCC F3 competition was run as a series (i.e. no champion was made) as it has lost its championship status at the end of '07 due to a lack of cars. |
