Mini Challenge

Hi,

My cousin has entered the Mini Challenge for this year in the 'club' class, does anybody have any experience of it, will he be getting through quite a few panels, what's the format?

I'm just worried he has bitten off more than he can chew for his rookie year!

Thanks in advance

I'm sure your cousin will have a great time in the MINI Challenge this year. I've been the Championship Clerk of the Course since 2005. Generally speaking the driving standards are very good, especially in the last few years since the introduction of in-car cameras. The Club class is an ideal way to start racing and the guys all seem to have a great deal of respect for each other. Sure the occasional accident and bumps and scrapes will occur but you get that with any one-make championship with close competitive racing and evenly matched cars.

Sadly I won't be involved with the championship this year with the move of organiser to MSVR but I know he will be well looked after by Paul Harvey and his team at Total Track.

I'm not so familiar with the Mini Challenge, but it looks like in 2015 there is three different classes:

Cooper, JCW and F56. Please could someone tell what level the season budgets are in the cheapest class and how about the arrive and drive type of renting for one race weekend and practice day before that? How would you compare theMini challenge costs to Abarth 500 Trofeo costs? Are there some cheaper classes available with new cars than these two?
