Holden does it again

I don't get it.

Holden bog up the back two doors of a Commodore. Everyone gets horny and has to buy one.

Holden put a 427 racing engine in a Commodore. Everyone can't believe it, and want to buy one.

Holden turn the Commodore into a hatchback. Everyone thinks it is brilliant, and want to get one.

What next? A station wagon? I'm hoping for a coupe.

I don't get it.

And now they wont to sell the 427 Monaro for $215k. Alot of $$$ for a 2door taxi.

What's not to get? People are suckers for that kind of thing but at the end of the day it's still a Clonemobile

I suppose there is a reason for the 427 Monaro, a homologation special for GT racing.

That SSX hatchback though......i dunno, Torana anyone, 4WD as well, where's the fun in that

What I want to know is what are Holden going to do if they put out a ****ty model Commodore ? If they just copy that they'll have 5 new models that no one wants. They are still living off the success of VT, but it won't sustain a long term range of models. They need to follow it up badly next time.

The Monaro is abit of a mix between VT,VX and VY Commodore features.

Headlights from the VT, VY grill, and the boot/tail light design is from the VX.

The Monaro merchandising section has re-defined "milking it".

its simple crash, the sheep out there believe all the BS that holden spin, just look at the AU dosent matter that it was a better car mechanically than the VT-VX, because they were told it "looked" bad they didnt buy it. yet look at the VY its horrid yet the sheep still buy it 'cos its a holden & they dont have the brains to go try a car for them selves. another example is all the young kids buying commondores 'cos all their mates say they are good.
they believe any BS about holden

All mass-production car makers have the same kind of spin, I don't for one moment believe it's exclusive to General Motors.

Do you guys read Car Mags (Wheels etc) and get their opinion, test for yourselves then purchase ? I mean I don't know if I'm alone, but I spend at least 6 months before I get a car checking out every Maker, model etc i'm interested in, I like the process of doing it and I usually know more than the guy selling it to me before I walk into the showroom.

Basically I agree with what people say here. 99% of people look at a Commodore Lumina ad, see the happy family and buy the damm thing the next day cause the family looked so happy so the Holden must be great. Just using Holden as an example.

Too right, Snout.

Brochures tell you nothing about a car really, just what trim options etc you can get.

If only we could actaully LIVE with a car fora few months then decide to buy. Doesn't apply to many makes I know, but if possible, I hire the make and model on consecutive weekends and really compare- drive the same roads, simulate everyday driving with it. Test drives are useless from the dealership.
