Advertising influence
Does seeing a ciggie ad or any other product on an F1 car influence you?

That really depends. I smoked Lucky Strike till 96 then I switched to Marlboro, but I won't and I mean WILL NOT buy an AMD-based computer, for example.

I think brand awareness is the biggest advatage of motorsport sponsorship. I can't recall purchasing something because I saw it on a racing car, but I have taken brands and products into consideration because I'd heard of them.

The only way advertising influences me is that if I have a choice between a product I will support the product that puts money into the sports I like, but I would not buy a product that I would normally not purchase eg.. cigies

The only thing that ever influenced me was tyres - I put Goodyear Eagle F1 rain tyres on my MG, but mainly because they are the most beautiful tyres ever made and it looks so pretty

As a kid I was regularly exposed to probably the best-remembered cigarette sponsorship of all time- JPS Lotus, and was never influenced to smoke anything, let alone JPS- the only effect it had on me was a lifelong irrational desire to own a black & gold Lotus...

I tried a Foster beer(the "official" beer of F1) at the USGP this year, and I've been buying it ever since!
I like the beer, and I feel like I'm supporting a company that supports a sport that I love. I think that advertising plays a bigger role than any of us would like to admit, or why else would companies spend millions to do it? |

I believe its a good thing to at least try a companies product that support your sport, team, or car, then if you find you enjoy it, keep buying it. Many times in this forum we complain when advertisers leave our favorite team, but what as fans did we do to keep them around? |
