I wouldnt mind putting some money on Bargs.. i think he will go quite well.

Richards and Whincup in the Tasman cars are at ridiculous odds, i think Jason could well be in the top 6 come the end of the weekend.

Given that this is an entity somehow associated with WPS.... its an odd move not to have the V8s on the list....

I'm not a betting man, and know nothing about how these odds are arrived at, but did whoever compiled this not watch Whincup at the GP? Both Tasman cars did pretty well there I thought, so having both sitting on 251.00, seems like they might be worth having a couple of bucks on. I mean, Wills is listed at the same odds, and he is starting a lap down - as much as I would love to see him win it, this is the first race we are talking about, and I think the second race is a much more likely proposition for him

Two years ago... the gumbies in the NSW TAB handicapping centre had Marcos Ambrose at $26 for the win in Adelaide, after a pretty poor AGP performance, as the BA was shaken down for the first time.

A number of people, including me , managed to get some serious cash down at that price....

... then Marcos won R1.... and we all became a little more financially viable

I dont think the handicapper is totally wrong here though... Tasman will not win outright, they may place well, but not win... thats what the odds are based on in the end..

Ingall @ 14.00
Richards @ 15.00
T.Kelly @ 11.00
Mcconville @ 81.00

There is a lot of value in there.

The TAB seem to think there is only two cars in the race (Ambrose and Skaife).

Even Lowndes @ $12 is a pretty good bet

Ingall @ 14.00 is a damn good bet in my opinion. I thought he looked stronger than Marcos at the AGP and if the rumours that they were on crap rubber and Skaife was on new stuff are true then SBR are looking pretty strong for Adelaide.

Stronger than Marcos?

How, and what races were you watching?

In R3 I got the feeling that Russell was being held up by Marcos but was content to just take third and not push and run the risk of taking them both out. Not based on any fact but just the feeling I was getting from my armchair critic position.

Well the ones at $100+ odds are probably not going to win... however they are not 20 times less likely to win then Skaife etc! Most of the odds are very generous, as they don't seem to accept that the difference between the #1 entry of the top few teams aren't actually actually 10 times better than those of smaller (or large but highly unorganized) teams, which is interesting but good for the punter if there is an upset.

In many ways I might agree with you. Also, why would he show his hand for no points?

Out of interest does anyone here regulary gamble on motorsport ?

From my view, motorsport just offers to many randoms that can take your money away. But thats coming from a guy who hasn't ever touched a pokie machine.

Its the ultimate pig in a poke.... the odds are all over the place as the handicappers have little clue as to the form, while the ability to lay off bets on other chances isnt that great when the "fixed odds" and very low input dollars can see the market move on the strength of a $100 trade....

If you like roulette, and picking the red or black scenario, sometimes there is money to be made on the Holden vs Ford bets... but the payback is representative of the relatively low risk.

I prefer gambling on Caltex shares (which have achieved yet another record high by the way.... from $1.90 a year ago to a close today of $16.69.... much better than gambling at the TAB)

The best way to bet on with the V8's is betting on races like Qld or Eastern Creek, where you know who has the best speed before the weekend starts....ie Ambrose V Skaife.

The other way is to study Natsoft during practice and Races if there are multi race formats and making your own decision there.

Worked for me last year.
