No Ben Edwards on the Eurosport coverage!

I was a bit disappointed by that. Was this a one off or is he not doing CART this year? (Could he possibly be moving over to do F1!?)

Who did do the commentary then? Hope it was someone half-decent.

It was Jeremy Shaw and Guy Hobbs - the 2 guys who used to commentate alongside Ben Edwards.

They did an OK job. Guy got a bit excited a couple of times (when Takagi spun at the pit entry and when Dario got a penalty).

We never heard anything about either one.

I wish we could get Ben and Jeremy every week. I like them. They can both pronounce Gil's name consistently and they always seem to notice that there are more than six cars on the grid.

Ben Edwards is pretty good alright but, for me, it's the partnership of Edwards/Shaw that's the winner. Similar to when he shared Eurosports F1 coverage with John Watson, Edwards plays the part of advocate very well, setting up the other party for a bit of commentary. I hope Ben Edwards will be doing the rest of the series.

By the way, Jeremy Shaw is a big ally of Champ Car racing, editing as he does the Champ Car magazine that's a sister to 'Racer' mag. This month's Racer features a story on the Zanardi/Vasser friendship and there's a great side-bar where the lack of American drivers is addressed. Basically, they ask the question why CART doesn't dip into its warchest and place Memo or Alex in a decent car.
