If it was a glory run, that’s not going to help them. If it wasn’t, then the signs are good. No point trying to reenter the championship if they are just going to be left behind again

Looks fantastic.
What is everyones expectation on the P1 actually showing up for 19/20? Also curious if Ginetta will see the new Hypercar ruleset as an opportunity to reset their top their top tier LM racing ambitions |

The new LMP3 looks years ahead of the old one. Congrats.

I'm sure it'll be there, but there are no excuses now. They have blamed everybody there is to blame, and now it's basically a factory car. If it isn't up to speed then the blame lies at Ginettas door.

I agree with this sentiment. But after seeing how fast the SMP and Rebellion have been at Le Mans, I still expect Ginetta to be behind the curve next year. Maybe filling in the byKolles niche?

Having thé same engine with thé BR1 will show us immediatly how good the car is. What is more worrying for me is the fact that they have lost a year versus SMP Racing and Rebellon. But I expect them quicker than Kolles !

If by that you mean that they have blamed the previous team/sponsor for not paying for the cars, and blamed the original engine builder for supplying an engine that was well over 100 hp down on the promised spec then yes you are right!

Apparently Dragonspeed were trying to get permission to run a Ginetta instead of their BR1. That would have been interesting.

* The BR1 is not a bad car, otherwise SMP would not have had the results either * Dragonspeed seems to be unable to get the car sorted. Does that tell us something about the car, or something about the team itself? Now let them change the BR1 to a car they have 0 experience with, and that hasn't been raced for a year. I'll agree that the Ginetta has been developed and upgraded and all, but I don't think it is at BR1 level yet, certainly not in the hands of a team that has no experience with it. Let's say they achieve the same results as with their BR1, then what would be the conclusion? * the Ginetta is still no good ? or * the Ginetta is still not reliable (enough) ? or * Dragonspeed is not the right team to run such a car ? or * ... I don't think Dragonspeed would have gained anything in this scenario and I'm not sure it would have done Ginetta a lot of good either, by putting in a race rather unprepared. Let them prepare for 2019-2020 and we'll see at the races what the car is worth. |

Maybe the BR1 didn't work well with the Gibson engine. Let's hope that the Ginetta does because it also was running a different type of engine in its early life. I suspect that the BR1 was designed for the AER turbo and that the updated version for Dragonspeed never worked as well.

On the other side, I think the BR1 is a more difficult car to drive compared with the Ginetta. That could had been a reason to have some interest in the swap. |

Keep getting it mixed up and thinking the Gibson is going to be in the Ginetta when it's the turbo AER.

With SMP gone, one has to hope for Ginetta-AER to last until LM, or otherwise there will be grand total of two engine makes in all of Prototypes and to think that only last year we had Toyota, Zytek, AER, Nissan and Mechachrome (although obviously even that is nothing in comparison to start of the decade)

Endurance info reporting the Ginetta was pretty close to Toyota on times at Paul Ricard.
