finding Trevor Taylor & Tony Dean

Would anyone be able to help me find Trevor Taylor & Tony Dean? I would like to speak to either of them for a book that I am writing on Porsche 904s, 906s & 910s. In particular, I would like to learn more about an entry that they had with Rod Salyer at Daytona in 1967. Thanks!

Too bad you asked!

To quote Motor Sport (03/67) "Tony Dean's new Porsche threw a rod as the car was started and never left the pits". Two Porsche finishers were Herrmann/Siffert 910-6 (4th) and Spoerry/Steinmann 906LE (5th). There's no other mention of the Dean car. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! HTH.

I'm not sure whether Tony Dean would want to talk about his Porsche ....

Taylor/Dean/Salyer & Porsche 906

Thanks for your comments. Let me elaborate though. At Daytona in 1967 a 906 was apparently sold to a South American for a briefcase full of cash. And before it was loaded into a plane its chassis plates were removed & replaced with 911 numbers (to avoid importation duties). This car still exists & has just received an incredible restoration by Gunnar Racing in Florida. Its identity is still uncertain. I've narrowed it down to one likely chassis number &, most likely, that it was the Taylor/Dean/Salyer entry at Daytona. Really, all I would like to ask any of them are a few details about their entry & the car. Jerry

Do you mean Tony Dean the father of Richard Dean, the owner of Team JLR? Richard may well be able to assist you. Not sure of his address but the team are based in Batley, West Yorkshire - I'm sure they must have a website.

Hope this helps.
