First of all the liveries are great. Best ones I have seen on the BMW M4's so far. But this quote stands out in the article: “The 2022 GT Daytona class rules allow us to compete against all teams on equal footing,” said team owner Will Turner. “Everything will be hopefully balanced with Gold and Silver drivers racing head-to-head with the Platinum drivers. The pairing of Bill Auberlen and Robby Foley is as good as anyone, so our expectations are pretty high. Translation: Turner team will be expecting to compete for OVERALL GT wins. Take the fight to R.L.L too. |

Add Perfomance Tech to the entry list on top of all of the above and we are at 42 entries, getting close o what will likely be the final entry. I imagine a few more LMP3's maybe a few more GTD's.
In DPi, with the second AXR car confirmed for Endurance, we are up to 7 cars... same as 2021 despite the loss of Mazda (thanks to the second CGR car). In LMP2, its also currently the same count as last year with 9 cars. LMP3 last year had 7 cars in P3, currently we have 4 for 2022 but still time for a few more announcements, not the end of the world if that class stays small. GTD Pro has certainly seen an improvement after its move from GTLM spec, with 6 cars last year, and 8 for this year. Weathertech could well still announce a GTD Pro entry, so we might see that increase too.. for now I have them listed in GTD. GTD had 19 cars last year, with currently only 14 cars announced this is the only cars that is really heavily down on numbers, one factor of course being the opening up of GTD Pro to the same cars, which Lexus and Pfaff at least has taken advantage of. Theres a good 5-6 cars from last years GTD Daytona entry that havent made any announcements yet so we could still see GTD hit maybe 16-17 cars. So, as it stands a month from the big race we are at 42 cars, compared to the 49 entered in 2021. My guess is we will see something like 48-49 cars so pretty similar to last year 24 Hours of Daytona 2022 - 42 Cars DPI Class - 7 Cars Action Express - Cadillac DPI-V.R - Pipo Derani / Tristan Nunez / Mike Conway Action Express - Cadillac DPI-V.R - Jimmie Johnson / Kamui Kobayashi / Mike Rockenfeller / Jose Maria Lopez CGR - Cadillac DPI-V.R - Sebastien Bourdais / Alex Lynn / Scott Dixon CGR - Cadillac DPI-V.R - Renger van der Zande / Earl Bamber / Kevin Magnussen JDC-Miller Motorsports - Cadillac DPI-V.R - Tristan Vautier / Loic Duval / Richard Westbrook / Ben Keating Meyer Shank Racing - Acura ARX-05 - Tom Blomqvist / Oliver Jarvis / Helio Castroneves / TBC Wayne Taylor Racing - Acura ARX-05 - Ricky Taylor / Filipe Albuquerque / Will Stevens / Alexander Rossi LMP2 Class - 9 Cars Dragonspeed - Oreca 07 Gibson - Pato O’Ward / Colton Herta / Devlin DeFrancesco Era Motorsport - Oreca 07 Gibson - Dwight Merriman / Ryan Dalziel / Kyle Tilley / Paul-Loup Chatin G-Drive Racing - Oreca 07 Gibson - Rene Rast / Ed Jones / Oliver Rasmussen / Francois Heriau G-Drive Racing - Oreca 07 Gibson - John Falb / James Allen / Luca Ghiotto / Tijmen van der Helm High Class Racing - Oreca 07 Gibson - Nico Mueller / Anders Fjordbach / Dennis Andersen / Fabio Scherer PR1-Mathoasen - Oreca 07 Gibson - Ben Keating / Mikkel Jensen / Scott Huffaker / Nicolas Lapierre PR1-Mathoasen - Oreca 07 Gibson - Steven Thomas / Jonathon Bomarito / Josh Pierson / Harry Ticknell Racing Team Nederland - Oreca 07 Gibson - Frits van Eerd / Giedo van der Garde / Dylan Murry / Rinus VeeKay United Autosport - Oreca 07 Gibson - Guy Smith / Jim McGuire / Phil Hanson / Will Owen LMP3 Class - 4 Cars Andretti Autosport - Ligier JS P320 Nissan - Josh Burdon / Jarett Andretti / Gabby Chaves / Rasmus Lindh AWA - Duqueine D08 Nissan - Kuno Wittmer / Frey Fidani / Lars Kern / Matt Bell Performance Tech Motorsports - Ligier JS P320 Nissan - Hikaru Abe / Nico Pino / Garrett Grist / Dan Goldburg Riely Motorsports - Ligier JS P320 Nissan - Gar Robinson / Felipe Fraga / Michael Cooper / Kay van Berlo GTD PRO Class - 8 Cars Corvette Racing - Corvette C8.R - Tommy Milner / Nick Tandy / Marco Sorensen Corvette Racing - Corvette C8.R - Antonio Garcia / Jordan Taylor / Nicky Catsburg Heart of Racing - Aston Martin Vantage GT3 - Ross Gunn / Alex Riberas / Maxime Martin Pfaff Motorsports - Porsche 911 GT3 R - Matt Campbell / Mathieu Jaminet /Felipe Nasr Team RLL - BMW M4 GT3 - TBC / TBC / TBC Team RLL - BMW M4 GT3 - TBC / TBC / TBC TR3 Racing - Lamborghini Huracan GT3 - Mirko Bortolotti / Andrea Caldarelli / Marco Mapelli / Rolf Ineichen Vasser Sullivan - Lexus RC F GT3 - Ben Barnicoat / Jack Hawksworth / Kyle Kirkwood GTD Class - 14 Cars CarBahn with Peregine Racing - Lamborghini Huracan GT3 - Robert Megennis / Jeff Westphal / TBC / TBC Cetilar Racing - Ferrari 488 GT3 - Roberto Lacorte / Giorgio Sernagiotto / Antonio Fuoco / Alessio Rovera Crucial Motorsports - McLaren 720s GT3 - Paul Holton / TBC / TBC / TBC Gilbert Korthoff Motorsports - Mercedes AMG GT3 - Guy Cosmo / Mike Skeen / Stevan McAleer / Scott Andrews Heart of Racing - Aston Martin Vantage GT3 - Roman De Angelis / Tom Gamble / Darren Turner / Ian James Magnus Racing - Aston Martin Vantage GT3 - Andy Lally / Spencer Pumpelly / John Potter Paul Miller Racing - TBC - Madison Snow / Bryan Sellers / TBC / TBC T3 Motorsport - Lamborghini Huracan GT3 - TBC / TBC / TBC TR3 Racing - Lamborghini Huracan GT3 - Jeff Segal / Bill Sweedler / Giacomo Altoe / John Megrue Turner Motorsport - BMW M4 GT3 - Jens Klingmann / Michael Dinan / Bill Auberlen / Robby Foley Weathertech Racing - TBC Weathertech Racing - TBC Wright Motorsport - Porsche 911 GT3 R - Ryan Hardwick / Jan Heylen / Zach Robichon / TBC Vasser Sullivan - Lexus RC F GT3 - Aaron Telitz / Frankie Motecalvo / Richard Heistand / TBC |

There must be a decent number of projects waiting confirmation to get to MP's 55 number he feels confident in coming through.

Here: https://racer.com/2021/12/20/rolex-2...s-to-capacity/
"RACER has learned IMSA is ready for Round 1 in January with an expanded field of 60 cars, including 25 entries coming from the prototype ranks and 35 from the GT paddock. Extra entries have been placed on a wait list, and will be accommodated if any withdrawals take place." |

Daytona is not a P2 championship round so Dragonspeed is hosting the 'Am' Indycar crew for the Rolex. Regular crew doesn't kick off until the 12H. |

Just another example why P2 is not exactly a priority for IMSA.

My understanding of not having the LMP2 in the championship at Daytona is the cost of this race. As IMSA wanted to have the cost of running in the LMP2 championship at the minimum, they did put the most expensive race ou of the championship. |

Two Muehlner Motorsport P3's takes the entry total to 44 cars,
Interesting, based on MP's assertion that we will see 60 cars, we are still waiting on 16 more car announcements with just under 4 weeks to go. I imagine we have seen everything we will see in DPI and P2. MP said there is 25 prototypes, we currently have 22, so id really imagine seeing those last few in P3. Biggest one is GT, where there is 22 entries so far, and Mp says itll be 35 cars. very curious where those 13 more cars are going to come from. Will be a heack of a grid if it all happens. Who's guessing number of hours under yellow????? think a lot of the time lots of teams and drivers just don't have a commercial (or social media) interest in making a big announcement.
would be nice to see a proper entry list though. |

And many of the GT funding guys have business and other concerns, whether we get to know early about what they are working on is not their concern. As they confirm their plans we'll hear the slow trickle of the remaining cars until race week

The Roar starts on January 21. Knowing IMSA's history with entry list releases I will guess it will be posted on Wednesday January 12.

Cooper in both GTD cars for Rolex, the 79 MB Weathertech car is Rolex ONLY. He will run the 97 for the season with Andlauder.
Lineups according to MP: "Joining MacNeil in the No. 97 will be Maro Engel, Jules Gounon and Daniel Juncadella, while Julien Andlauer, Matteo Cairoli and Alessio Picariello will round out the line-up for the No.79." |
